A student who must drop a course or withdraw from college after registration must complete the proper withdrawal form. The date of withdrawal is not the day the student stops going to class but the day he/she properly fills out the withdraw form and return it to the Office of the Registrar.
Check the School of Extended Education for classes and enrollment information. Login to the SSU Portal and MySSU to access the searchable schedule of classes. The schedule in MySSU is the most current schedule and is kept up to date as sections are changed.

You must submit a Withdraw Form to the Office of Admissions and Records. You can continue to drop online, however this will result in a "W" grade. Withdrawing from one class, some classes, or all classes requires that you have a "serious & compelling" reason as definied by the campus policy.
Serious and Compelling Reasons An extended absence due to a death in the immediate family. This applies to absences exceeding a week due to family affairs that must be attended to by the student. A necessary change in employment status which interferes with the student's ability to attend class.
Matriculated SSU StudentsFind the Change of Major form from the Admissions and Records website. This is a completely online form that does not need to be printed out.Fill out the Change of Major form: ... The form will then be routed automatically; you do not need to meet with the coordinator to declare Pre-HD.
In order to withdraw the last class, an electronic withdrawal form must be submitted. Students will automatically receive a W, if they officially withdraw before the published deadline.
Failing & Then Re-Taking a Class Croskey notes that dropping a class is better than withdrawing, but withdrawing is better than failing. “A failing grade will lower the student's GPA, which may prevent a student from participating in a particular major that has a GPA requirement,” Croskey says.
For example, if you are going to fail or get a “D,” it's probably better to unenroll. Additionally, if the class is causing you physical or emotional stress and health-related issues like anxiety, it's not worth sacrificing your wellbeing.
Fallthrough courses are those that are completed, but not needed for your degree. Insufficient courses have unsuccessful grades, repeats or CPC requirements. In-Progress courses are those for which you are currently registered. Courses in these boxes do not count toward your total number of hours.
Information about dropping courses is available on the Registrar's Office website. Students may drop/withdraw from classes via the web by logging into MySSU or by visiting the Student Business Center located in the University Center. If a student has a hold, they should visit the Student Business Center.
