Dropping all classes from your schedule before the "withdrawal" deadline will result in you being withdrawn from BYU-I. You will not be allowed to withdraw after the deadline and will receive the grades earned in your courses. Before withdrawing from BYU-I please consider the following:
Click on Registration at the top right of the screen If in the “Old myBYUI” click on the STUDENT tab Scroll down until you see the “Add/Drop Courses” and click on it. Make sure the “Term” is the correct semester you’re wanting to add classes for.
If you are registered in other full semester or other block courses, you can select “Drop Courses Only.” It will only drop the course that you selected and will not withdraw you from the university. If you accidentally dropped your courses, please fill out the Reinstate Course Request Form. If a course is dropped past 24 hours you need instructor approval. Important Definitions. Course Drop: Removal of a course from your schedule prior to the end of the first week of class. Course Withdrawal: Any removal of a course from your schedule after the end of week one using the online form provided.

Withdrawing is not the same thing as dropping a class early in the semester. When a student drops a class, it disappears from their schedule. After the “drop/add” period, a student may still have the option to Withdraw. Withdrawal usually means the course remains on the transcript with a “W” as a grade.
Dropping a class with financial aid won't necessarily affect your FAFSA and financial aid award. If you're taking extra classes, for instance, you could probably afford to remove one from your schedule.
In general, withdrawing from one class (as long as you have been attending the class) during a semester won't affect scholarship aid you've already received, but may impact your eligibility during future semesters.
Unofficial withdrawal occurs when the student initially attends class, and at some point stops attending. The instructor will report a last date of attendance and the student will receive an “F” grade for the class. An unofficial withdrawal impacts both your GPA and your Pace/Completion Rate.
Discontinuance is defined as withdrawing from ALL classes for the current semester or term and means a student is no longer considered to be currently enrolled for that semester.
This section displays all of the registered classes that you are permitted to drop. Courses that you cannot drop for the selected term and program do not display here. To see your complete schedule, click the My Schedule hyperlink at the bottom of the Add/Drop screen.
This section displays all of the classes for which you are waitlisted. This section displays information on Course Code, Title, Schedule, Location, and Credits for each waitlisted course. To view Course Details, click on the course title hyperlink.
This section displays all of the classes that require advisor approval before registration. To view Course Details, click on the course title hyperlink. Select the courses you wish to remove from this list and press the Cancel Selected Approval Request (s) button.
Click on the Admin this portlet link at the top of the Course Schedules portlet to configure all of the settings for the Add/Drop functionality.

Will Attend After Mission: If you plan on attending BYU-Idaho directly after your mission, please fill out a Missionary Deferment Request. This allows you to start classes on the next track assignment following your mission without the need to re-apply to BYU-Idaho.
To drop a course go back to the “Add/Drop Courses”. Scroll down to Your Schedule (Registered). Select the left column “Drop” box, scroll down, and click “Drop Selected Courses”. DO NOT PRESS “Drop All Courses”, as this will drop all your courses (unless you would intentionally like to drop all of your courses).
You can find the course code by searching the name in the Academic Catalog. The “Class Type” and “Subject” should be set to All, and the “Course Title” should be left blank. You can change the class type to be either online or day. You can also choose search by general subject or course title.
To remove yourself from the waitlist simply click “Remove from Waitlist”. Waitlist authorizations are an automated process. They are sent out 24 hours a day and all 7 days of the week. The authorization to add the course is only valid for 24 hours and then your spot will go to the next person on the waitlist.
Registration cannot resend your authorization or put you back at the top of the waitlist. You are able to waitlist for up to 12 credits. You cannot waitlist for classes that you’re already registered for.
If you do not take classes for credit for one semester, you will be taking a leave of absence. You cannot take a leave of absence the first semester you’re admitted.
It is not a negative mark, but a neutral grade that does not affect your GPA. You will also be charged $10 per class. Withdrawing may affect your scholarship, financial aid, tuition, housing or employment if you withdraw below a certain number of credit hours.
The university reserves the right to assign a failing grade for academic dishonesty reasons even if you are able to withdraw yourself from the class before the failing grade has been assigned.
Dropping Classes After the Add/Drop Deadline. If you need to remove yourself from a class after the Add/Drop deadline, your option is to withdraw. You have until the withdraw deadline to decide, which is the 10th week of a semester or 6th week of a term. A “W” grade will be put on your transcript.
