How do I drop a Canvas Network or Catalog course or program?
Unfortunately, we don’t delete courses from Canvas. We recommend unpublishing the course or simply following the directions above to remove it from your Dashboard.
Note: You can only drop a self-enrolled Canvas course while it is in progress (between the course participation dates). Also, if you did not enroll in the course using the given URL or join code, meaning you were manually or automatically added to the course, you will have to ask your teacher or institution to be removed from the course.
However, if you are a student in the course, it will need to say yes under the Published column [Purple box]. In addition, Canvas includes tools tips to describe certain thing on the screen. Hovering your mouse over the stars will tell you why you can or cannot star a course.
If there are no gold stars then Canvas will display all courses listed within above the Past Enrollments section. Following the steps above in Add Classes for your current courses will result in the unwanted class not appearing in your Dashboard. Unfortunately, we don’t delete courses from Canvas.
Hello and welcome to the Canvas Community! To address your question, students are not able to delete their enrollment status in courses. You would need to contact the instructor or an administrator for the institution to request the removal.

Students: You courses will appear on your Dashboard when two conditions are met. One, the course has been published by your instructor. Two, the term has started. Your instructor can make the course available early by changing the course dates.
Only your current courses can be added or removed from your Dashboard. The list of those courses appear above Past Enrollments. Any courses from Past Enrollments and below can not be starred.
Instructors: Due to frequent requests, Canvas course shells automatically appear on instructor’s dashboards several terms before they begin. Course shells can be hidden from the dashboard as desired using the instructions below.
Once you delete a course, the course will be completely removed from your institution's account and will not be viewable by you, prior students, or the account administrator.
Deleting a course is a course permission for manually created courses only. If the Permanently Delete this Course button does not appear in Course Settings and your course was not generated through a student information system (SIS), this setting has been restricted for your course. If you are an instructor, contact your admin for assistance.
Administrators can restore deleted courses if they know the Course ID number. You can locate your Course ID number at the end of your course URL (i.e. canvas.instructure.com/courses/XXXXXX).
Courses are not deleted from an account unless done so by you or another user at your institution.
You may be able to remove an enrollment in your course within your course Settings in Canvas. Removing an enrollment deletes the enrollment from your account, but admins can view these enrollments as deleted enrollments in account-level reports.
Removing enrollments is a course permission. If you cannot remove enrollments in your course, your institution has restricted this feature. Enrollments may be added by your institution's student information system (SIS). If an enrollment is created via SIS, only admins can remove an enrollment from the course.
