Log into CUNYfirst. Select Self Service. Select Student Center. On the top left portion of the screen, in the Academics box, click on the "Enroll" link. On the next screen, select the "Drop" tab at the top of the page. Select the check box next to the course you are withdrawing from. Click the "Drop Selected Classes" button under the course list.

Check the selected classes to drop and click on Drop selected classes. After clicking on Drop selected classes, you will be sent to another page where you would be told to confirm your selection. Be sure that this is the class that you would want to drop before you click on Finish Dropping.

A student may withdraw from a course (s) by logging into their CUNYfirst account or stop by the Office of the Registrar during business hours.
Contact the registrar's office to withdraw. Go in person to the registrar's office to get a class withdrawal sheet. Some institutions also accept withdrawals through email. Look on your school's website for an email address for the registrar's office or the academic advisor's office.

When a student drops a class, it disappears from their schedule. After the “drop/add” period, a student may still have the option to Withdraw. Withdrawal usually means the course remains on the transcript with a “W” as a grade. It does not affect the student's GPA (grade point average).
If you fail a class, you'll get a 0 on your transcript — and that can bring down your GPA. Failed classes count toward your GPA, though some colleges do not count pass/fail classes in your GPA calculation. If you get an F, you still have to pay for the class without receiving any credit toward your degree.
If you are enrolled as a full-time student, you will be eligible for more financial aid than if you are enrolled as a part-time student. When you withdraw from a class, your school's financial aid office is required to recalculate your financial aid offer.
There will be no mark on your transcript, so colleges won't ever see or know that you dropped the class. If you drop a class early on in the semester, try to add another class in its place so you still have a full schedule and can be sure of meeting the number of credits required for graduation.

Limitations. The transcript displays the official record of classes students enroll in during school, so most grades cannot be changed or removed. Courses changed before the drop/add date do not appear on the transcript, but any classes you do not drop after that date are part of the permanent record.
If your school determines that your withdrawal from a class changes your student status, or impedes your Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), they may reduce your financial aid for the current session or disqualify you from aid in the future.
Something may have occurred in your student's life that is preventing them from being able to focus on school — an illness, an illness or death of a family member, or some other life occurrence over which they have no control. Your student may need to consider a medical withdrawal for physical or psychological reasons.
