Massive Open Online Courses, shortly MOOCs, are a trending phenomenon in online education. Neither distance education nor online courses are new, but especially in the field of technology enhanced learning, MOOCs have been gathering enormous attention by the public. Thus, following the main idea of bringing education to a broad range of people, two universities in Graz developed an xMOOC platform for the German speaking area, mostly addressing people in Austria. Before the first courses started the authors reflected on how such a MOOC should be carried out and which key factors (didactical, technical and administrative) have to be considered. This research study strongly concentrates on developing a checklist for practitioners who would like to do an xMOOC in the future by examining different xMOOCs and reflecting first experiences gathered through daily work on MOOCs. It can be concluded that doing a Massive Open Online Course is much more challenging as maybe expected at first sight. Nevertheless the proposed checklist will help to overcome first barriers and provide solid steps towards one’s first online course.
MOOC's-Myths and Reality: The growing popularity of MOOC's offered in the context of digitized education implies an objective analysis of the benefits and disadvantages of these educational products. The present study calls for a comparison between the initial socioeconomic and academic ideas and expectations of the actual functioning of the various online courses, the development of their modalities and their didactic scenarios in terms of pedagogical benefits for teachers and learners.

You should develop a communication plan that starts 4 months before the MOOC launch date and runs 2 months after the course end date. Press releases should also be drafted; course trainers and project managers should make themselves available to talk to the media. Do not forget to establish a Community Management strategy on social networks as well because it can also help increase the number of enrollees.
During the course, the communication strategy is aimed at decreasing learner drop-out rate and highlighting key moments in the course (meetups, hangouts, guest speakers). After a course is completed, you should communicate on course success stories, talk about new initiatives, provide learner testimonials, and publish course statistics, using for example an infographic. This “reporting” phase is fundamental and can often lead to additional press coverage. A large team is not necessary to carry out all of these actions as long as you are organized.
Regarding coursework, on average, a university-level MOOC lasts between 6 and 8 weeks and requires 2 to 3 hours of work per week. An external corporate MOOC is more or less identical.

One way to keep your students engaged is to provide an early return on their investment. If a student feels they’ve learned something just from the first module alone, they’re a lot more likely to stick around. Nothing gets someone down faster than them feeling stupid or unproductive, which is very easy to do in a learning environment. Give them feedback, and an ongoing sense of accomplishment, and they’ll stick around.

Ideally, you should have demonstrable expertise on the subject you are teaching. That could be either by education or practical knowledge on the subject. Having real qualifications to show to your students makes a big difference in establishing trustworthiness for yourself.

Quadrant -II is e Content; which shall contain; self instructional material, e-Books, illustrations, case studies, presentations etc, and also contain Web Resources such as further references, Related Links, Open source Content on Internet, Video, Case Studies, books including e-books, research papers & journals, Anecdotal information, Historical development of the subject, Articles, etc. iii. Quadrant-III is the Discussion forum for raising of doubts and clarifying them on a near real time basis by the Course Coordinator or his team. iv. Quadrant-IV is Assessment, which shall contain; Problems and Solutions, which could be in the form of Multiple Choice Questions, Fill in the blanks, Matching Questions, Short Answer Questions, Long Answer Questions, Quizzes, Assignments and solutions, Discussion forum topics and setting up the FAQs, Clarifications on general misconceptions.
b)‘Course Coordinator (CC)’: The CC shall be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) belonging to a reputed educational institution/Industry or a specialist in the field identified and entrusted with the task of developing online course in a
