Access to Cisco AnyConnect VPN for faculty and staff will be disabled on Tuesday, Dec. 21. Before this time, Georgia Tech employees are encouraged to install and begin using GlobalProtect VPN offered at vpn.gatech.edu.
University IT only supports connecting the the GSU network using the official Cisco AnyConnect VPN client, available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. All other software and operating systems - including Linux and OpenConnect - are unsupported.
Start the Cisco VPN client by going to Start → Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client or typing anyconnect into the Start Menu In the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client window… The window will wait until you successfully authorize using your DUO authenticator.

The system is VPN, there are roles for off campus access (External) and on campus access (Internal). The VPN_External_UNI is most common, others are for access to specific systems.
To connect from off campus, you'll need one other step... Remote Desktop access is a way of accessing and controlling your office computer's desktop as if you were sitting in front of it.
The Office of Information Technology maintains and supports the VP N and provides VPN documentation and guides. Occasionally you may need/want to access your NAS files remotely without connecting to the VPN. IAC provides a secure file transfer (sftp/scp) service to allow this.
Sometimes you may just need to access a piece of special software remotely. Many software applications provided by the college or its schools are available remotely via the Virtual Lab (VLab) system and the IAC Stats Server.

Use the Virtual Private Network (VPN) to connect to the university network from off-campus and access resources only available from within the network. Additionally, many online systems do not require the VPN such as WebEx, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, iCollege, and Office 365 Email.

My company has VPN server. I usually connect servers in the company by SocksCap. SSH, Database client are all OK. But today I fail to connect to shared folder on samba file server by adding Explorer to SocksCap and running it in SocksCap.
You need to check this with IT department of your company since they configured this and they could help you with the issue. Normally, when you are connected to VPN, you could access your company resources.

The AnyConnect client will connect to the VPN.
If you choose “Enter as Passcode,” you may type a Duo passcode from any of the following: the Duo App installed on your smartphone or tablet,the code provided on a hardware token that you have been given, or one of the codes received via SMS from Duo.
When possible it's preferred to use Remote Desktop instead of VPN. If you have an IT role, VPN should only be used from a UNI managed laptop.
