Check your myTCC Email and class announcements every day. Let your instructor know you need to talk to him/her, and your instructor will advise you on the best time to meet. Email your instructor using myTCC Email. Call or visit your instructor's office during office hours or leave a message during non-office hours.

To access your online class please log into your myTCC account and click the Canvas portal. You should see the class loaded with more information, including the class syllabus, any available assignments, and messages from your instructor.
If your course uses high stakes tests, consider breaking them down into a few smaller tests to minimize test anxiety and to make the transition more manageable for you. We also have access to Respondus Lockdown Browser, which allows for remote testing.

Canvas. Beginning Fall 2021, TCC will no longer use Blackboard for coursework. All coursework with be available through Canvas.
Browser lockdown software can't see you or hear you because it does not require a webcam or microphone. If online exams aren't monitoring video and audio, students can use study resources such as textbooks and take the exam with a friend.
Lockdown Browser does not monitor or record student activity. uses the students' webcams to record video and audio of the exam environment. It also records the students' computer screens. Instructors can view these recordings after the exam session is over.
The aptly-named J-term is a 2-4 week program taking place in January, and is essentially a mini term between semesters when, generally speaking, students return to campus to take a short class or work on a project before spring courses begin.
A trimester system divides the academic year into three sessions: fall, winter, and spring. Each trimester is approximately 12-13 weeks long. Each trimester you can take three to four classes depending on how many credits each class is.
Minimesters are short, three-week semesters offered between longer semesters. They're a great way to complete required courses and help you earn your degree sooner. TCC offers Wintermesters (December–January) and Maymesters (May).

The full-time course load is 12 to 18 credit hours. As a rule, one credit hour of course work requires at least two hours of study outside of class each week. You should consult with an Enrollment Services counselor or advisor to plan an academic load that is compatible with your work schedule and other responsibilities.
Adding a course means enrolling in a new course during the published add/drop period. Students may need special permission from a professor and academic dean to add a course after the first class meeting.
Students may drop a course and receive a refund up until the “last day to drop for a tuition refund” as noted on the academic calendar. Students who change their mind about taking a course must drop the course and process the drop online through SIS.
TCC distance learning students must log onto the course several times during the week. It is recommended that students log on early in the week to see what is due in order to schedule time to complete reading and writing assignments, contribute to discussions, and take any tests that might be scheduled.
To graduate from TCC, you must: Satisfactorily complete the degree program (s) for which you are enrolled. Have at least a 2.0 GPA in your TCC coursework and at least a 2.0 cumulative (all college work) GPA. Have earned at least 25% of credit hours toward degree from TCC.

Beginning Fall 2019, TCC will no longer require students to apply for graduation. Students who have completed their program of study and met all graduation requirements will automatically be graduated at the end of the term (review the Academic Calendar for session graduation dates).

All Traditional (face to face) courses use Canvas. However, typically Traditional courses use Canvas only to post grades.
Because you are not required to attend class for an online course, it can be tempting to procrastinate and put off reading and work assignments. To be successful in an online course, students in online courses must be disciplined, motivated and have good time management skills.

Review your attendance records, your assignment records, the Mandatory Attendance Policy and the ICR. Read your myTCC emails. If your myTCC mailbox is full, empty it. You can also meet with your instructor.
