Charts and maps can be held in a pirate's inventory or on the navigation table of a ship. However, they can be placed or removed from the navigation table only by the deed holder or by someone ranked fleet officer or above in the deed holder's crew .
Pirates can acquire maps for buried treasure, shipwreck, and yeti sightingexpeditions, as well. Historical notes Originally, charts had to be purchased from a NPP.
In order for a ship to sail, a course must first be charted. This course goes from the current island or league point to the final island destination. For the course to be valid, the league points used must either be on a chart on the table, in the pirate's inventory, or memorized by the pirate doing the charting.
Visual task? Chart Course is a short task in Among Us, completed in Navigation on The Skeld, in Admin on MIRA HQ, and in Dropship on Polus . The Crewmate must go to the panel and drag the ship displayed across the four points to complete this task.
Island charts may be bought at shipyards or shipyard stalls from the current island to any neighbouring island in the same archipelago.

To memorize routes away from islands (where the navies don't sail), pirates must navigate while pillaging, trading, or sailing solo for the purpose of memorization, also known as power memming. These methods are prone to attack by brigands, which slow the memorization time.
Pirates may also use the Attack Brigands mission to memorize league points as well, but enemy ships will attack.
One common method of memorization is charting a long route such that there is enough time to get up to "fine," and to keep these higher scores for a longer amount of time. Also, not porting but simply recharting to go back on the route is also very common: no speed is lost at islands this way. However, as the navigation puzzle resets to zero on recharting, the higher speed means that there is less time to build up a good score before the first league point. A solution sometimes employed to solve this problem is to have a fellow officer chart the route while the navigator remains at their station.
To memorize routes starting on colonized islands, it may be simpler to take a navigation mission aboard a navy boat. Pirates will be assigned to a sloop with four swabbies; rum will be provided free of charge by the navy; ships will not attack; and navigators will be paid wages for their performance at the navigation puzzle.
Most league points can be memorized in 4-6 passes, but some may take as few as 3 passes, or as many as 8. For the pass to count, a ship must travel between two league points; turning about before hitting the next league point does not count.

An alternate solo strategy is to configure a pillage with the difficulty of the brigands/barbarians turned down low. You should be able to win most of the resulting fights, even without using cannonballs. While this method is much slower and requires far more skill with the navigation puzzle than evading, this method does generate a large number of charts and can prove useful when other methods of getting missing charts are unfeasible.

Maps decay in three calendar days from the time they show up in the shop and reduce in price until they are purchased as they decay. They come with three different variables:
Sea Monster maps have a decay rate of 8 days. Unlike most items, they decay in 8 calendar days, not login days.
Sea Monster maps are the only way that a crew can gain access to an Atlantis outpost, Cursed Isle or Haunted Seas. These maps can be won in pillaging battles, from chart boxes, on rare occasion from black boxes and one person will always win one from skellie, zombie, and werewolf frays.
Inter-archipelago charts have a decay rate of 90 days. Intra-archipelago charts have a decay rate of 45 days. When charts have expended around half their lifespan, the chart icon changes to a more tattered version, this can be used to judge how soon a chart will turn old.
For intra-archipelago routes, the star will be the color of the archipelago. For inter-archipelago charts, the star will be the color of the originating archipelago; the secondary color will be that of the destination archipelago.
As of release 2008-02-05, pirates could receive an Atlantean species of crab called "Karkinos". This pet is only found in Atlantis, and pirates may receive one during booty division of Treasure chests. They can come in any of the four shades of blue, with gold, silver or bronze filigree.
Treasure Haul sites can be found on the Atlantean Attack board , marked by the masts of sunken ships. The puzzle is played as normal, except for the addition of a 2x2 chest. If the chest piece is cleared to the top of the Treasure Haul board, a treasure chestis transferred to the Bootyand its contents will be distributed to the players during booty division. The chests have either one, two, or three padlocks, with 3-lock chests (called Antediluvian chests) providing the best booty.
A trike boardis an Atlantis board where the dominant monster battled is a triketos.
These dragoons will challenge players aboard to a swordfight, which will include a new piece, the aqua trident. If the players win, the dragoon will exit the ship. However, if the player loses, the dragoon will remain aboard and attempt to take over the vessel. Additional dragoons will board over time, up to the number of players aboard the ship. If the number of Dragoonsequals or exceeds the number of players aboard the ship, everyone on board receives a message reading: "Arr! Those pesky Dragoons be wanting yer ship! All hands join the fight to save the vessel!", and automatically enter a swordfight, which includes the new aqua trident piece. If the players win, the Dragoons leave. However, if the Dragoons win, they take over the ship and throw the players overboard. All effects take place as if the vessel had been sunk.
On the Dark Seas, a badge is not required to participate. Entering the Atlantean board. Upon entering the sea battle board, a vessel will start in an entrance zone to the top-right or bottom-left of the board.
To set sail to Atlantis, all pirates aboard must either hold a bravery badge or be subscribed. On the Dark Seas, a badge is not required to participate.
These are just a few examples. It is also possible to win an atlantean chroma, which may be used to change a single color on a single item of clothing to atlantean.
