On your course page, from the Administration block, click Settings. From the Force theme drop-down menu, select the theme you want to try. Note: by default, the Moodle theme is Cornflower. At the bottom of the page, click Save changes.

Everything you need to build or extend your Moodle site with Edumy is now installed. But first, let's activate your new theme: → Navigate to Site administration > Appearance > Themes > Theme selector, and change the default theme to Edumy. Upon successful activation, a "New theme saved" page will be displayed.
Go to the desired course and navigate to its “Edit course settings” page. Select a theme option from the “Force theme” dropdown menu. Click the “Save changes” button and you will see the page refresh and the theme being applied immediately.
How to set a different theme for a Moodle course. A lot of you know that you can set a theme for your Mood le site but some of you may not know that you can also set different themes for the courses in the same Moodle site. A theme you set for the course will always override the site theme.

Moodle offers an additional way to set a theme - the session theme. This is set with the URL and lasts until you log out. When you next login, the site/course/user themes are active again. How do you change the colors of the various elements of a theme? Where is this in the admin panel of Moodle 2.2.3?
It says, "Default: Empty," in the Custom CSS text box. Is there somewhere you can learn simple CSS commands (or whatever you call them) -- I am not exactly savvy when it comes to coding.
Even when I use the engine to change the colors they often times just stay the same. I'm trying to change the colors in "Brick" and they remain reddish no matter what I choose... Why ?

In a standard Moodle installation, session themes are not active. To activate them the administrator must add the parameter $CFG->allowthemechangeonurl = true; to the Moodle config.php file in the Moodle base directory.
