To change a grade other than YC or CP for students in many Columbia University schools, click on the Change Grades button from the Web Grading menu option. If the Change of Grade option is not available for a student, instructors should use the paper change-of-grade process through their department.
How does a department gain access to final grade rolls, which includes grade changes? You may submit a request for final grade rolls through Data Warehouse. Click the “Catalog and Schedule folder” to view the Class Rosters report. If grades have been posted for a course, they will be listed on the report.
Fall 2021 Deadlines. Jan. 17 Students enrolled in Fall 2021 and not enrolled for Spring 2022, can submit a grade forgiveness request through January 17, 2022. Jan. 21 Fall 2021 degree candidates have until January 21, 2022, to submit a request for grade forgiveness.
Engineering masters students should speak with their department before selecting P/F for a course. Students in the School of International and Public Affairs, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and undergraduates in the School of Engineering and Applied Science may elect the Pass/Fail (P/F) option which converts grades of D and above to P.

Incomplete Grade Option FAQs An Incomplete (IN) is assigned as a grade option for work not completed as a result of documented illness or other emergency. For Spring 2022, grades of IN can only be assigned after academic week 12 in the semester.

You may assign an ' I ' (Incomplete) grade if a student is unable to complete some portion of the assigned course work because of an unanticipated illness, accident, work-related responsibility, family hardship, or verified learning disability.
When are my final grades due? Final grades are due no later than 72 hours after the date of the final examination for the course. Grades turned in late may affect a student’s academic standing (probation/suspension), honors, eligibility for financial aid, or ability to graduate.

The Office of the University Registrar does not in general permit the respective Faculties to record and submit either informal interim/temporary grades or grades that serve as placeholders. All grades must be official, final grades that conform to the grading schema in place at the various Schools.

In the fall and summer terms, only a complete grade roster will be available. If grades are partially input they can be saved but not submitted until a value is entered for each student on the roster.
In the spring term, graduating student grades can be submitted individually but non-graduating student grades can only be submitted after every student is graded. There are three roster views available in the spring term:
This feature is currently available to most students at Columbia University. Instructors are responsible for initiating grade changes and must transact all grade changes directly in Student Services Online (SSOL ). Students are prohibited from participating in the grade change process.
R Credit. R is a non-evaluative grade, not a change in course grading option, that confers credit for registration without designating an A-F letter grade. Enrolling in a class for R credit is not the same as taking a class on a Pass/Fail basis or as an auditor.
The mark of R is awarded in place of a letter grade. A student who elects to take a course for R credit must meet all course requirements other than the final examination, unless the instructor states otherwise in writing, preferably in the form of an email to the student.
Students in certain schools may uncover the letter grade in a course given in an academic term up until the end of the Change of Program Period of the following term in SSOL. Graduating students may have earlier deadlines according to school policy.
Students enrolling in a class for R credit are not required to take the final examination. All other requirements are established at the time the professor grants permission to enroll in the class. If the student performs in accordance with the agreement, the instructor will award an R grade. Please Note:
