Frosty Slide for 8 Red Coins is the fourth mission of Cool, Cool Mountain in Super Mario 64 and its remake, Super Mario 64 DS. Its objective is to collect the eight Red Coins located throughout the mountain. The mission's Power Star appears once all eight Red Coins in the level have been collected.
With the upcoming Super Mario Odyssey being only the third Mario game in the same vein as Super Mario 64 (following Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine), it is high time to reexamine one of the evergreen staples of the video game canon. In this installment, I’ll be taking a look at Course 4 – Cool, Cool Mountain.
This Red Coin is on the small ledge near the ropes of the lift. After crossing the very narrow bridge with the two snowmen, continue going down the mountain to reach the area where the mama penguin is. To the left of the mama penguin is a tree with this Red Coin on top. Climb the tree to retrieve the coin. From the mama penguin, keep heading right.
At the beginning of the level, you can see the first Red Coin floating on top of the tree that is next to the cabin. Climb up the tree to gain this Red Coin. Red Coin #2 Jump over the ridge to the left of the cabin and use the snowy path the curls down the mountain.
The Power Star appears at the far end of the broken, narrow wooden bridge. From where you got Red Coin #8, run and do a long jump to reach the other side.
The cannon you want is near the top, next to the Heart Icon that heals you. Jump into the hole in the ground to drop inside the cannon and make it appear. Aim just above the tree, fire away, and you should grab the tree as you fly through the air. Climb the tree and jump up to grab the last coin.
Cool, Cool Mountain Star 4: Frosty Slide for 8 Red Coins Here's where they all are: Atop a tree right at the start of the stage. At the bottom of the slide - by which we mean the outdoor slide, not the one from star 1 & 3. It's in a little angled nook of the mountain, right before the snowman head and bridge.
Star Five — Snowman's Lost His Head As soon as the conversation ends, turn right and drop onto the snow slide! You need to stay ahead of the rolling snowball at all times to ensure it follows you back to the head. Slide all the way down the hill until you reach the bottom and then quickly run to the snowman's head.

Unlock the cannon by speaking to the pink Bob-omb Buddy on the small island floating next to the lift. Enter the cannon near the mama penguin and aim above the tree across the gap and high enough that your cursor points at the ceiling above it. Follow the path on the other side and long jump over the gap.

Jump towards a vertical wall by running and pressing the “A” or “B” button. As soon as Mario makes contact with the wall, press the “A” or “B” button again.
Beat Big Boo! Run up to the mirror and you'll see Mario's reflection turn into Luigi. After this, a battle with Big Boo will begin. Defeat Big Boo to get the Luigi key! He's not especially difficult, but you'll need to keep an eye on both Mario and Luigi to win.
Mario (or Yoshi, Luigi, or Wario in Super Mario 64 DS) can assist the snowman head (who is looking for nearby headhunters) by rolling down the snowball fit to be the Headless Snowman's new body.
