Hunter College is committed to providing opportunities for students to take hold of their futures by offering support for attending summer school classes.
If you plan to take classes at Hunter this summer, you may be eligible to receive a Summer Scholarship. Upon registering in Hunter College’s Summer Session, the scholarship awards up to $450 to continuing undergraduate students and up to $750 to continuing graduate students for enrollment and successful completion of one (1) summer class.
Summer Pell, known as the Year-Round Pell Grant provides up to 150 percent of your maximum Pell award for the academic year. If eligible, the additional Pell funds will enable you to enroll in Summer courses at reduced tuition or tuition-free so that you can earn your degree faster without accruing or increasing debt.
If you meet certain requirements, the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) can help cover the costs of your summer classes.
All students are strongly encouraged to register for classes with the CUNY Schedule Builder. Schedule Builder is a real-time class scheduling tool that enables you to plan and register for courses that meet your schedules and other needs.
Registration will open and close according to the dates posted on the Academic Calendar. Your specific registration appointment date and time, known as your enrollment appointment, will be posted in your CUNYfirst account. Try to register at that time to have the most choices. See Student Center > Enrollment Dates.
Newly admitted and readmitted students must claim and activate their CUNYfirst account in order to receive notification of their enrollment appointment.
In order to select a Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) grade for an undergraduate course, you must complete and submit the Credit/No Credit Request for Undergraduate Courses, made available by the Office of the Registrar.
Upon submission of a Credit/No Credit Request, your submission will be forwarded to the Office of the Registrar and the course instructor who you indicated on the form. You will be notified at your Hunter College email address if we experience any issues in processing your request and/or if any additional information is required.
To graduate from Hunter means that you have officially completed your academic degree; from here, you’ll go on to launch your career and use the education you’ve received. You must apply to graduate, it doesn’t happen automatically. Graduation is celebrated at Hunter with a commencement ceremony that takes place prior to your degree being conferred. See the commencement page for information for students and guests about the ceremony.
The Commencement Ceremony is an event that is held at conclusion of the Fall and Spring semesters to celebrate those students who are candidates for official graduation. For information regarding the Commencement Ceremony, please visit www.hunter.cuny.edu/commencement.
If you receive Federal and/or State financial aid awards, you must declare your major and minor before completing 60 credits. Failure to comply will result in a hold on the academic record and registration.
How to declare your major, minor, or certificate 1 Complete and submit the online Major, Minor, Certificate Declaration and Change Form. You will need your Net ID and password to access the form. 2 As this process may require approval from the academic department, it is highly recommended that you submit this form as early as possible prior to the Major/Minor Declaration Deadline as indicated on the academic calendar. 3 Declarations and changes processed after the Major/Minor Declaration Deadline will be effective for the following semester.
Several majors will not be listed on the Major, Minor, and Certificate Declaration Form because they require an internal process managed by the academic department such as an application, audition, and/or entrance exam. This includes the following:
