Mar 02, 2022 · Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and list Geneseo’s federal school code - 002845. Students that are NY State residents should also complete a NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application at www.tapweb.org .
Geneseo awards up to 30 credit hours for examinations such as the Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB). While each academic department determines the minimum test score required for academic credit in a particular subject, three hours of elective credit are guaranteed for general elective courses with scores of three or above for AP courses and four above for IB courses.
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is available only to New York State residents. It is a state-funded initiative designed to provide an alternative means to gain access to college. Its goal is to assist you if your high school academic achievement was adversely affected by family financial hardship.
Early Decision admission reserves positions in the freshman class for candidates who have decided on Geneseo as their first-choice college. In return, students applying under the early decision program commit to enroll at Geneseo if admitted.
Test-optional note: Students are NOT required to submit standardized test scores (SAT, ACT). Applicants are free to add test scores they believe indicate their aptitude for successful higher learning, but they will never be a singular factor of admission to the college.

A letter of recommendation from a teacher is required. You may also submit a letter from other sources (i.e. school counselor, coach, employer) if you wish to do so. 3. Statement of Commitment; submit, in long hand, an exact copy of the Statement of Commitment (see below) on the Statement of Commitment form.
Self-reported test scores listed on your Common Application or printed on your high transcript are also acceptable. Geneseo will accept both the new SAT and the old SAT.
Follow the instructions for submitting a grade, but enter the grade "I."
The SP grade is rarely used. If you have never used it before, it probably will not apply to your situation.
All students are expected to maintain satisfactory levels of academic achievement (at least a 2.00 cumulative grade point average and appropriate levels of credits completed satisfactorily in each semester) throughout their tenure at Geneseo and to make satisfactory progress toward their degrees.

Geneseo participates in several internship programs that encourage students in all majors to work with agencies related to local, state, or federal government. These internships provide a broad background for further academic training or for public service employment. Placement through the State Legislative, Washington Semester, or Washington Center programs are made following a local application process, grade evaluation, interview, and contract procedure according to College guidelines. Further information about the nature and requirements of these programs is available from the chair of the Political Science Department, or from the College Internship Coordinator in Erwin 166.
A temporary grade of “ I” (incomplete) may be awarded when a student has been unable to complete a course due to circumstances beyond his, her, or their control . Instructors determine whether an “I” grade is appropriate and work out a plan for completion of required work with the student. A grade of “I” must be converted to a letter grade within six weeks of the start of the semester following the semester in which the “I” was awarded. If the “I” is not converted to a letter grade within six weeks of the following semester, it will be converted to an “E.” An extension of the six-week period is permissible, if the supervising faculty member agrees. The faculty member must contact the Registrar’s Office to request the extension and indicate the new deadline for completion.
Good standing status for a semester is defined as: (1) the successful completion of a minimum of 11 credit s of course work (8 credits for students in their first semester at Geneseo), and (2) a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00.
Academic Advisors. Academic advisors are faculty or staff members who assist students in planning their academic programs. Students who have declared majors are assigned advisors in their major departments. Students who have not yet declared majors are assigned faculty advisors by the Office of the Dean of Curriculum and Academic Services.
Catalog Year. A student’s catalog year is determined by the academic year of matriculation at Geneseo; the student is subject to all graduation requirements, including general education, and programmatic requirements found in the Undergraduate Bulletin for that catalog year .

Campus Auxiliary Services, Inc. is a not-for-profit educational corporation operating a variety of campus services for the Geneseo College community. A Board of Directors comprised of students, faculty, and administrators determines the budget and policies of the Corporation within the guidelines established by SUNY Systems Administration.
