Course Reserves are materials, such as books and journal articles, for use in specific courses at the request of course instructors.
Course Reserves are an excellent option to provide course content to students. Reserves help to alleviate the effect of ever-increasing textbook costs on students, foster student and faculty engagement, and create opportunities for library outreach.
Log into Canvas and select "Course Reserves" from the navigation pane on the left side of the webpage. Select your semester from the drop down menu in the center of the page.
Santa Fe College students may use the University of Florida study spaces, including the 24-hour Newell Hall study center. An SF ID is required for entrance. Students may also use the UF Libraries whenever they are open. An SF ID card may be required for entrance during evening and nighttime hours.
E-Reserves are electronically accessible, full text images of articles and short book chapters, that meet fair use copyright guidelines. They benefit students 24 hours a day, seven days a week access to course readings. Previous e-reserves services were discontinued in 2009.
Electronic course reserve (ECR) service allows students to access course reserve materials electronically from anywhere via the library catalog. Photocopies are scanned as PDF documents and made available via the library online catalog. We can also easily add electronic documents.
We welcome visitors, guests and researchers, and all campus libraries are open to the public during general public visiting hours.
Students in this program will need to secure off-campus housing. Santa Fe does not offer dorms and UF dorms are not available to students in this program until they have been officially admitted to UF.

The primary Course Reserves Unit, located in Library West, is made up of two employees who work with instructors to process requests for UF courses. They are also available to answer any questions and offer guidance about the Ares system, and provide physical and electronic course materials for student use.
The Course Reserves Unit provides access to course materials at the George A. Smathers Libraries’ branches including Architecture and Fines Arts Library, Education Library, Library West, and Marston Science Library. Course Reserves materials include print books, textbooks, e-books, journal articles, slide decks, DVD’s, and more.

Print books on Course Reserves are available behind the Circulation Desk. Please have your course number and instructor’s name available for the circulation staff to locate the materials.
Some Course Reserves materials are available through Electronic Reserves. These include links to ebooks, links to open access resources, links to articles in UF library databases, or sections of books. Ebooks and database articles can be accessed through the UF library catalog when connected to the UF Gatorlink Virtual Private Network (VPN).
IMPORTANT: You must have the UF VPN Client installed on your computer, and be logged into the UF VPN Client before viewing online course reserve materials using an off-campus network. The courses in your My Courses list will be automatically deleted at the end of each semester. If you want to remove a class before the end of the semester, take the following steps.
For each class in your My Courses list, there is an option to be notified by email when new items are added to the course reserves list. Emails are automatically sent to your ufl.edu email address. To activate this feature, take the following steps:
The Hot List allows the user to group items they may want to access quickly or may need for more than one class. My Hot List feature is under Student Tools on the left side Main Menu.
