To add a section, scroll down to the very last section on your Moodle course page. Click on +Add Sections. Choose the number of sections you wish you add. Then click the blue Add Sections button. To delete a specific section, click on Edit in that section, then from the list, choose Delete Section. Print Email

You will need to click on the Create a new section link to add each additional needed section. Once the section is added, the content will appear (there is no need to repeat the import process). To delete a section, simply navigate to the unwanted section and, at the top of the section, click the X icon just below the name.

A "course" is what we're used to dealing with in Canvas — a full-fledged, fully featured web site with a group of students enrolled. Everything that we think of doing in Canvas, we think of doing with a course. A "section" is a group of students within a course.
There are several different section formats available in a course. Selecting and changing formats is done in Settings > Course administration block > Edit settings menu, with the format pulldown menu.
The top most section may act as a header and usually contains the News forum. Like other sections, it has an HTML editor.
