At least 97% of the time it takes to get from the earth to the moon, it’s off course. Put another way, for every half hour the ship is in flight, it is on course for less than sixty seconds. They are nice examples but are they really true. Where would these percentages come from? Show activity on this post.
Airplane pilots don’t adjust course for the curve – Flat Earth Facts If the Earth were truly a sphere 25,000 miles in circumference, airplane pilots would have to constantly correct their altitudes downwards so as to not fly straight off into outer space.
As you can see, they only course-corrected four times over the course of the 143-hour mission. The Apollo 11 mission had five scheduled course corrections, three of which were considered unnecessary by mission control when the window arrived.
The Apollo moon rockets were off course 97% of the time. Yet they still reached their chosen destinations – and returned to earth – with pin-point precision and timing. Did you know that an Apollo rocket is actually on course only two or three percent of the time? At least 97% of the time it takes to get from the earth to the moon, it’s off course.
Despite turbulence and other conditions keeping airplanes off-course 90 percent of flight time, most flights arrive in the correct destination at the intended time. The reason for this phenomenon is quite simple — through air traffic control and the inertial guidance system, pilots are constantly course-correcting.
Experts in air navigation have a rule of thumb known as the 1 in 60 rule. It states that for every 1 degree a plane veers off its course, it misses its target destination by 1 mile for every 60 miles you fly. This means that the further you travel, the further you are from your destination.
1) broken or defective equipment. 2) equipment that is not properly maintained or calibrated. 3) improper use of equipment by flight crew.
US Commercial flight carriers are currently conducting about 5,670 passenger flights daily. Roughly 100,000 flights take off and land every day all over the globe.
So much about it seems dangerous. Except that, in all but the rarest circumstances, it's not. For all intents and purposes, a plane cannot be flipped upside-down, thrown into a tailspin, or otherwise flung from the sky by even the mightiest gust or air pocket.

Most commercial airlines, that operate between East Asia and the Americas, do not fly over the Pacific Ocean because of cost and safety concerns, including turbulent weather, which can be dangerous to fly over.
Early aircraft engines did not have the reliability needed for the crossing, nor the power to lift the required fuel. There are difficulties navigating over featureless expanses of water for thousands of miles, and the weather, especially in the North Atlantic, is unpredictable.
If a passenger jet flies too high, it reaches a point called 'Coffin Corner'. This is the point at which the aircraft's low speed stall and high-speed buffet meet and the plane can no longer maintain its altitude which forces it to descend.
Accident statistics suggest that flying by night accounts for about 10% of the general aviation accidents, but 30% of the fatalities. That suggests night flying must be inherently more dangerous than aviating when the sun is up.
Flying for the first time can be frightening, especially if you're traveling by yourself. Making sure you feel comfortable and excited for your trip is really important.
100,000 flightsSome 100,000 flights take off and land every day across the world.
But the planes are all going East in 1 direction. They aren't going to the end and making a U Turn. They are not going in a circle. You can fly from LA to New York non stop.
$\begingroup$ If you are flying parallel to the ground, you are automatically staying at the same altitude because the ground is curved the same way as the atmosphere. You wouldn't be flying on a straight line, of course. If you were attempting to fly a straight line you would either soon run into the max. altitude at which your plane can develop lift or you would crash into the ground.
“I am asked on a regular basis by the “flat earth army” about the world being flat, and I even watched some documentaries on it because I was curious to their point of view, I decided I would create a way for them to prove or disprove their theory once and for all.” — Kelsey of the YouTube channel 74 Gear I am posting this YouTube because I have recently received two angry comments ...
U.S. Air Force fighter pilots tracking a turboprop plane steered by an unresponsive pilot Friday weren't able to get his attention or communicate with anyone on board before it crashed, U.S. officials said, meaning the incident may never be precisely explained.
The circumstances closely resemble those surrounding the crash of a small plane whose pilot lost consciousness and breached restricted airspace over Washington, D.C., before crashing into the Atlantic Ocean last Saturday, said Glenn King, a test pilot and director of advanced pilot training for the NASTAR Center, a federally licensed flight research and training facility in Southampton, Pennsylvania..
Please keep the Glazer family in your thoughts during this extremely difficult time. Such a sad week for #Rochester.
Pilots aim at the horizon, so by doing this, if the earth is curved, they are automatically adjusting for the curve, similarly computers they use the gyroscope and the altimeter, to keep the plane at a fixed height above the earth, which will automatically adjust for the curve if there is one. Lee.
I urge everyone reading this to grasp on to the concept that all the oceans on Earth wrap around a ball 25,000 miles in circumference with a gravitational pull from a molten magnetic core. Science has proven that a magnet heated into liquid form has no magnetic properties.
So flat earth is not science, because they don’t have an agreed on theory and have not been able to construct a valid predictive model based on their theory.

If you were on a globe you would end up where you started. But the point is you can’t do this on the earth, so you can’t test to see if the earth is a globe or not. That is the problem. It is difficult to come up with a practical test you can use, that you can actually carry out, to prove the earth is a globe.
They don’t have to prove their theory because they know the earth is flat, they don’t need a model because they know the earth is flat…. However, my point, is although the globe earthers have presented a very beautiful theory with quite an accurate predictive scientific model, that is not a guarantee it is correct.

One degree is starting to make a difference. If you veer off course by 1 degree flying around the equator, you’ll land almost 500 miles off target! The point here is that small actions, accumulated over a very long time make a huge difference. Financial planning is in many ways like flying a plane.
This placed the aircraft 28 miles to the east of where the pilots thought they were. As they approached Antarctica, the pilots descended to a lower altitude to give the passengers a better look at the landscape. Although both were experienced pilots, neither had made this particular flight before.
28 Feb The power of one degree course correction. In 1979 a passenger jet carrying 257 people left New Zealand for a sightseeing flight to Antarctica and back. Unknown to the pilots, however, there was a minor 2 degree error in the flight coordinates. This placed the aircraft 28 miles to the east of where the pilots thought they were.
