The Commanders Safety Course has been a longtime requirement for captains assuming company command per Army Regulation 385-10, The Army Safety Program. A revision to that regulation will coincide with release of the LSC during the first quarter of fiscal 2021.
The nine-hour course is self-directed and comprised of six distinct modules, including an overview of requirements of the Army Safety and Occupational Health Program, a detailed lesson on the risk management process, and instruction on building safety programs at the unit level and managing safety in tactical/range environments.
The Manager Safety Course and the Supervisor Safety Course will continue to be available in ALMS until the end of FY21. Either CSC or LSC is required to be completed prior to assuming the first command and for the Company Commander First Sergeant Pre-Command Course (CCFSPCC).
In accordance with the Secretary of the Army Memo, Prioritizing Efforts – Readiness and Lethality (Update 2), dated 18 April 2018, the AAC, referenced in both AR 600-55 and AR 385-10, is no longer a requirement. Instruction contained in the Army Traffic Safety Training Program fulfills required training in accordance with DODI 6055.04.
Leader's Safety and Occupational Health Course (LSC) LSC replaces the Commanders Safety Course (CSC), the Manager Safety Course and the Supervisor Safety Course and opened for enrollment in ATRRS beginning 1 October 2020.
