Some people end up having to be on prilosec and others if its class indefinitely. There have been a couple of studies that show some long term effects of acid-suppression while on a PPI (proton pump inhibitor). One is PPI's can affect the absorption of calcium, this in turn can lead to bone fractures and osteoporosis.

So I went to the ER because since yesterday afternoon I’ve been having chest pain that differs from anything else I’ve experienced with reflux. It hurts right under my ribs in the center of my stomach and radiates up to my left shoulder. Like a stabbing pulsing pain.

I have been on the acid watchers diet for 70+ days now, and while my shortness of breath is gone as well as the sore throat, I still feel constant mucus in my throat and some post nasal drip, as well at teeth erosion.
