In IIT Bombay there are three type of Scholarships available for M.Tech Students: Postgraduate Assistantship, Postgraduate Private Scholarship and Postgraduate Government Scholarship. In IIT Bombay a student can even earn 20k per month with no tution and other fees.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) provides scholarships to talented students who have scored qualifying marks in GATE to help them financially in pursuing higher education. Candidates admitted to first-year of MTech/ME programs at AICTE-recognized institutions are eligible.
A monthly studentship of Rs. 12,000/- per month will be paid to M. Tech(CB) students for a maximum of 24 months from the date of starting of the classes at IIIT Delhi.
Currently, the MTech fee in an IIT is somewhere between Rs 20,000 and Rs 50,000 per semester. But currently, talks are going on to hike it to Rs 200,000 per year. All the GATE qualified MTech students also get a stipend of Rs 12,400 which may also be stopped from the next academic year.
At present IITs provide complete exemption of tuition fee for SC/ST and physically disadvantaged students besides interest subvention on educational loans for all students whose annual household income does not exceed Rs 9 lakh for a period of five years.
