From what I’ve heard, OSU is one of the cheapest options you can find. It’s also one of the few Post Bach programs in the country, which adds extra appeal. All your concerns about the content and lectures are very legitimate. In my experience, the lectures don’t get much better.
Every once in a while, people email me to ask whether Oregon State’s post-baccalaureate computer science program is worth it. Now that I’m nearing the end (I’ll graduate at the end of winter term), I feel like I can provide an answer. This post will serve as a long-form explanation of my answer, which is yes (with some caveats).
However, OSU’s price is not unreasonable, relatively speaking. This will pay for itself. All of the other legitimate online schools that market for post bacc CS programs (CU, Auburn, etc.) are more expensive.
If you take classes both delivered online and on-site at OSU during any term, you will be charged the appropriate Ecampus tuition rate for Ecampus credits plus the appropriate campus-based tuition rate for credits completed on-site. Additional fees for taking on-site courses will apply.

Ecampus credits are viewed as no different than on-campus courses and count toward reaching full-time enrollment (12 credits) for graduate students. Similarly, Ecampus courses will count toward full-time enrollment status for graduate scholarships, fellowships and scholarship/fellowship tuition relief programs.
A graduate student who is appointed as a graduate assistant in summer term may enroll in a maximum of 16 credits. The tuition remission for a graduate assistant appointment covers a maximum of 16 credits per term. Any cost for credits beyond 16 are not covered by the remission and must be paid by the student.

The Program. The online postbaccalaureate computer science program at Oregon State University is uniquely flexible. You can start with a bachelor’s degree in any other field, with no previous computer science training required. You can start any term, and you control your pace through the program.
First of all, when we say “worth it,” what’s ‘it’? What are the costs? In my mind, the cost of doing this program can be broken down into three parts: financial cost, time cost, and opportunity cost. Financial cost is the easiest to quantify, so let’s start with that.
Whether or not the program is worth it essentially just boils down to one question: is working as a software engineer (or in a related C.S.-focused career) worth the costs outlined above? If so, then program is worth it.
Now, some caveats. The main strength of Oregon State’s computer science program is not the video lectures, it’s not the instructors, it’s not the assignments or other learning materials. The main strength is this: making a commitment to spend a chunk of your life focusing on computer science and software engineering.

I'm going into my last year in the program. Didn't get an internship this summer, but I'd like to do a personal project in my free time while only taking one class to prepare for job applications. Any ideas? I was thinking a full stack database app.
Anyone taking Capstone this summer and want to do something blockchain related? Please let me know.
So my dream is to work remotely, is that possible directly after the program? Has anyone done said remote work, or is it looking like that's only possible after a couple years exp?
I recently applied to OSU's CS post bacc program and I received an email saying that my state might not recognize licensure received from Oregon. Is this of any concern? Have any of you been employed in a different state than Oregon with your CS degree from OSU?
