Feb 26, 2019 · Withdrawing from classes will affect your percentage of hours earned. All students must earn 75% of all hours attempted to remain eligible for financial aid. If you officially withdraw or stop attending all courses, you may be required to repay all or part of the financial aid disbursed to you for the term in which you withdraw.
Withdrawing from UF. Withdrawal is defined as dropping all courses, not individual courses, in a term. Students who leave UF without withdrawing formally will receive failing grades for all courses. Students on academic probation who withdraw from UF before the deadline will continue on probation until their grade point deficit is reduced to zero.
Full-term withdrawals from all courses and dropped courses do not count in credits carried. Students get two additional drops in the second 60 credits attempted. Unused drops do not carry over from the first 60 credits attempted to the second 60 credits attempted.

Dropping a class is much better for your GPA than failing a class or getting a C or D in it is because a dropped class does not affect your grade point average. Dropping a class may also raise your GPA because it can allow you to spend more time on other classes and raise your grades in them.Jan 17, 2022
It does not affect the student's GPA (grade point average). Although students may be reluctant to have a “W” on their transcript, sometimes “W” stands for Wisdom. Withdrawing from one class may make success in other classes manageable and allow your student to end the semester with a strong GPA.

UF does not have a grade forgiveness policy. The grades you earn stay on your transcript, even when you repeat a course.
When you withdraw from a class, your school's financial aid office is required to recalculate your financial aid offer. If your withdrawal means you are no longer a full-time student, you may only receive a percentage of your initial financial aid offer.Mar 30, 2022
By dropping down you may be able to improve your marks in the lower level subject and the scaled mark you achieve could help your ATAR in the short term. However, this reason for dropping a subject comes with it's own warning: you still need to think about the long-term implications of your decision to drop a subject.

“A withdrawal will be on the transcripts but does not affect GPA.” Croskey also noted that there aren't any limits to how many classes one can drop because they don't go on the transcript. Withdrawals though are limited and can look bad if there are too many on a student's transcript.
Federal regulations require you to repay a portion of financial aid funds if you withdraw from all classes before satisfying the 60 percent completion rule for the enrollment term. (See the current 60 percent dates for the financial aid award year.)
If you must withdraw during the final three weeks of the semester (or proportionate for winter or summer terms), you may petition for a Catastrophic Withdrawal. Catastrophic Withdrawals are only granted when a student is prevented from completing their classes due to serious and extenuating circumstances.

After drop/add, students can drop a course with the approval of their college up until the drop deadline in the academic calendar. Students will receive a grade of W on the transcript and are fee liable for the dropped course.

If, as a result of withdrawal, cancellation, or termination of attendance, you are entitled to a refund of tuition/fees (determined by the#N#http://www.fa.ufl.edu/bursar#N#University Bursar) or campus housing charges (determined by the#N#http://housing.ufl.edu#N#Division of Housing and Residence Education) and you received aid for the same payment period, part of your refund will be returned to the appropriate federal Title IV or institutional account.

Per Florida Statute 1004.07, any student enrolled in a postsecondary course or courses at a state university shall not incur academic or financial penalties by virtue of performing military service on behalf of our country. Such student shall be permitted the option of either completing the course or courses at a later date without penalty or withdrawing from the course or courses with a full refund of fees paid (see refund of fees information in fees and fiscal section). If the student chooses to withdraw, the student's record shall reflect that the withdrawal is due to active military service.
Per Florida Statute 250.482, if a member of the Florida National Guard is ordered into active service, no private or public employer, and no employing or appointing authority of this state, its counties, municipalities, political subdivisions, community colleges, or universities, shall discharge, reprimand, or in any other way penalize such member because of his or her absence by reason of state active duty.
The Dean of Students Office handles requests for medical withdrawals. A student who is withdrawing from the semester may request that this be processed as a medical withdrawal if circumstances warrant. The student will be required to provide appropriate documentation in order to withdraw for a medical reason.
If your current situation is due to extenuating circumstances over which you had no control (e.g., serious medical illness or illness within the immediate family, recent death of immediate family member, family/personal crises), then you may be able to petition to have the drop considered a ‘medical drop’ .
