Using a combination of forum theatre – where the viewers are able to interrupt and change the narrative of the piece, process drama – where both the students and teacher are working in and out of role, and story drama – where literature is used as a ‘springboard’ for participants to explore beyond the actual text, students will be challenged to critically think about stories and dramatic content they encounter, make connections to their own lives, and current happenings in the United States. As an ensemble, we will reimagine already existing dramatic texts and use our voices and beliefs to recreate scenarios centered on equity and social justice.
