I loved working at Miami Dade Colleges. As an adjunct instructor you have lots of flexibility and the pay rate is $40 hrly. The only bad thing is that there are no health insurance benefits. Depending on student enrollment you might get the maximum amount of classes to teach (about 15 credits per semester) or just a couple of classes.

MDC This is a great place to work, you have a lot of job security and flexibility with your schedule especially if you are a faculty member. They just need to pay more for your experience but overall it's a state facility.
Teaching at Miami Dade College was great. Relaxed environment, and professional conduct on the part of the administration.
Not what it used to be. Salaries are 2 decades behind, and pay for adjuncts such as myself is variant and at times you don't know how long or how many weeks they will retain, If you asked they feel anoyed. It could be 3 weeks salary hold everytime a semester starts.
Support is lacking, evryone is for themselves, nobody cares, preparation does not count for salary.

MDC is a relaxed environment , yet it is structurally solid in its policies and procedures. There is new technology to learn all the time. MDC provides the resources and tools in which to do so.#N#WHich in turn allows instructors to focus mainly on the presentation of materials not only for the course itself, it allows instructors to make any adaptations for students that may have different learning styles. Students get an excellent education at MDC because instructors are more than willing to go that extra mile or two if need be. The basis for this is that MDC provides a structural foundation upon which to use as a guideline for courses as well as the tools and learning needed to do so .

MDC have been a blessing for me and my family, always there for me, fair compensation all tools are provide.
Working at MDC is a great experience . I have been a professor for many years and this was a very good opportunity for me.
Excelente place to work, very professionals in many campuses. This Institution is very good to work as a Part Time professor (Adjunct Faculty), better than expected to work as a Full Time Professor. MDC is very professional in everything about education, and potential growing in the academic performance for the students. This College is very tech savvy, and indeed supports the students in their technical devices for an excellent complement of the educational models in it’s varieties as: fully online, blended and face to face.
The state-of-the-arts of the academic big picture, in The Miami Dade College is excellent.
Don't go for any administrative/management positions. Faculty gain protection through the union. No training, no set protocol, each campus and department has their own. They poster as progressives but are very closed minded and many heads of department are racists.

I worked during 2 years as an adjunct professor and was selected 3 times for full-time positions without success.

Adjunct professors are paid very poorly. MDC actually pays the highest rate for adjuncts but it's still low. Most of us have PhDs but with the glut of people with advanced degrees, a full-time job in academia is hard to find.
I'd love it there! But as an adjunct professor, I work my butt off and don't make enough to survive. So much of my labor is unpaid, and in the department I'm teaching in, I work only slightly less than a full-time professor and get paid a fraction of the salary.
I love it here. Only problem is I'm an adjunct and want to be full-time. I teach/have taught high school and college. College is BETTER!!! I strongly encourage you to pursue if you have never tried it.
