Tuscania, famous for its tufa rocks promontories, has cinematic landscapes that have inspired artists and filmmakers such as Pier Paolo Pasolini, Orson Welles, and Franco Zeffirelli, all of whom have used Tuscania as a setting for their films.
This hilltop town is located just north of Rome, sitting on the border of Tuscany and Lazio in the breathtaking countryside of the southern Maremma.
Housing costs include coverage of utility costs up to $75. Utility expenses above $75 will be charged to student residents. Please note: a $300 housing safety deposit is to be added and will be refunded to students after the students’ departure, if no damages are found to the apartment.
This supplemental insurance through GeoBlue is required of students who do not have alternate, comparable coverage. Although it is not included in the Tuition Cost, it is included in the Total Program Cost below. These costs are based on standard course selection*, double occupancy student apartment housing, and student insurance.
The curriculum at LdM Tuscania is focused on instructing students in the arts, agricultural sciences, Italian language and culinary arts of the region in a fully immersed environment. All courses are taught in English, except for Italian Language courses.
What does it mean to study abroad at LdM? As an LdM student, you will learn both inside and outside of the classroom, exploring and utilizing the resources of Tuscania, its art, history, and monuments as part of your formal and informal education.
The Summer Programs comprise month-long courses in June and July and are well-suited for both undergraduate students who want to study abroad and earn academic credit, as well as for independent students seeking a meaningful educational experience in Tuscania.
A mandatory Italian language component is available at different degrees of intensity, depending on the students’ level and interest in developing language skills.
