UCF is in Orlando. This is a pretty good sized city of about a million people. Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, the Orlando Magic and a couple of other smaller attractions are in the area. In addition the beach is just 30 minutes from UCF campus.
UCF is the largest land holding university in Florida and has one of the largest student bodies of all Florida schools. The stand out programs at UCF are engineering, laser technology, biosciences, education, film, and hospitality in addition to a new medical school.
To walk from one end, to the other end of campus only takes about 25 minutes, which is a nice feature. Lots of trees, fountains and greens keeps the campus fresh and they are always building or renovating buildings. Basically, UCF campus is the closest thing you'll get to, to a resort campus.
Similarly, the school has fantastic basketball and baseball programs. Soccer is also growing in popularity at Florida schools. UCF has a football stadium on campus and the games are big student events. The team isn't as successful but they play big schools now and have grown in success over the years.
Of course, both colleges have athletic programs. UF’s program has been around a while and has all sorts of associated traditions, championships, etc. The Greek life at UF is there for the taking. Campus resources, such as libraries, gyms, pools, cafeterias are there to be enjoyed or ignored.
The number of students is about the same for both schools because Orlando is such a big city UCF has been known as a commuter school meaning that lots of students stay at home with their parents and drive to school. This has caused the school to struggle on social activities in the past.
