EMT course offerings. Ankeny Campus. The EMT course is offered every semester on the DMACC Ankeny Campus. This course is offered in the evenings from 6-10 PM and will meet either M/W nights or T/Th nights. Depending on the class you select, you may have some mandatory Saturday classes that you are required to attend throughout the semester.
What is the minimum score for a retest?
The retest score that is obtained by the student must be 80% . Students must also obtain a minimum score of 80% on all graded elements of the class including documentation, professionalism, nightly quizzes, unit exams and the final exam.
What is criminal history in Iowa?
A student's criminal history is examined on a case by case basis by the Iowa Department of Public Health Bureau of EMS. The Bureau of EMS in consultation with the Iowa Attorney General's Office, has the final say over whether a student is allowed to obtain certification at the end of the course based on the findings from their investigation. DMACC has no control or influence over this process or outcome and is subsequently not liable for any student that cannot certify due to criminal history.

Respond to incidents such as automobile accidents, heart attacks, slips and falls, childbirth, gunshot wounds and any other emergencies that require immediate care.
What Else Should I Consider about this Degree program?
General education and PS classes are scheduled on the College campus. Correlated clinical experience takes place in selected hospitals and ambulance transport services throughout the area. Courses are taught by individuals experienced in the field and are offered at a variety of times.

- The EMT course at DMACC is very competitive. Students are required to obtain an 80% on every exam in order to pass the course. All exams are multiple choice and are computer based. Students have the opportunity to use a retesting option in the event they do not obtain the minimum score of 80% on an exam. Only one retest option can be used per unit exam. The retes…

- Any student wishing to leave the course is strongly encouraged to formally withdraw from the course to prevent receiving an "F" on their DMACC college transcript.
