You can withdraw from a course through the mid-semester date via Spire. Follow these instructions to Withdraw. A "W" will show up on your transcript indicating that you were enrolled in the course after the add/drop period. Just be sure you remain a full time student--carrying 12 credits.
The only way you can withdraw from a course after the mid-semester date is if you successfully petition based on verifiable and extenuating circumstances. You should discuss your situation with your academic advisor. If you decide to petition for a late withdrawal use the Late Withdrawal Petition.
To be in academic good standing you must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA. If you go below a 2.0 you will be placed on academic probation and will need to see the Academic Dean in 220 Morrill II Science Center and your academic advisor to develop a strategy to improve your academic performance.

Graduate Student Course Retake Policy. A graduate student may repeat any course, provided the student has not taken and passed a more advanced course for which it is a prerequisite. The course may be repeated regardless of the grade received, but there may be only one such repetition per course.
A grade earned in such a course cannot be replaced by a grade from a later retake of the course.
Repeating a previously passed course may affect your financial aid.
The course repeated must be identical to the first course taken (same department, same course number and title, same number of credits). You may not repeat a course after graduation.
