National FFA Organization Awards More Than $2.7 Million in Scholarships. The National FFA Organization and National FFA Foundation has awarded more than $2.7 million in scholarships to 1,884 recipients. This was made possible thanks to the generosity of 115 sponsors.

On November 20, 1928, thirty- three students from 18 states attended a meeting at the Baltimore Hotel in Kansas City to orga- nize what would be known as Future Farmers of America, or FFA. National dues were set at 10¢ per member.

Texas tops the list of states with the largest FFA membership with 81,694 students, followed by California with 70, 555, Georgia with 31,616, Missouri with 25,096 and Oklahoma with 23,562. The 10 largest FFA chapters are all in California.
Since 1969, women have served as convention delegates, national officers and even been named as the American Star Farmer. Nearly half of all FFA members are women, and females hold approximately 50 percent of state leadership positions.

Perhaps the final barrier was broken in 2002 when Karlene Lindow of Chili, Wisconsin, became the first young woman ever to be named Star Farmer—the FFA's highest agricultural award.
1950 - The U.S. Congress passes Public Law 81-740, which grants the FFA a Federal Charter and stipulates that a U.S. Department of Education staff member be the national FFA advisor. Today FFA continues to be recognized by Congress as an intra-curricular part of the educational program.

Teasley was the FFA Advisor at Hephzibah High School from 1990 to 1996. He led a successful chapter while hosting effective CDEs, banquets, and leadership activities. In 1996 he was selected to serve as the Camp Director at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center.
