I was in college when George Dunne opened, “ Forest Preserve National “ back in the day. Course continues to be the top shelf of the Cook County Forest Preserve courses. Awesome layout, meticulously manicured greens, fairways and tees. Bunkers are abundant, cavernous and deep, they are lacking sand, one large criticism of the course.

Eight lakes, which come into play on eleven of the course’s holes, tree lined fairways and not to mention an abundance of wildlife help make your golf experience a memorable one.
These paved trails are great for hiking, cycling, or cross-country skiing in the winter. Access the Purple Paved Loop from the west end of the Yankee Woods parking lot and take it in either direction. Circle the George W. Dunne National Golf Course and connect with the Green Paved Trail at 159th and Ridgeland.
