Here are some other measurements that it’s helpful to know: 1 100 meters: the length of one straightaway 2 800 meters: roughly ½ mile or 2 laps around the track 3 1600 meters: roughly 1 mile or 4 laps around the track
A track to yourself is one of the great joys as a runner. You have a completely flat and soft running surface all to yourself. But sometimes others will be on the track with you.
Many colleges and high schools open their tracks to the public during times when school isn’t in session. Always look for rules or instructions before going onto a public track—they might have rules on running in a certain direction on specific days of the week or to stay out of specific lanes, for example. And always plan your workout around open hours, and make sure you don’t interfere with special events. You don’t want to be on a track when the field hockey team is practicing!
You don’t have to be “fast” to hit the track . In fact, it can be the perfect place for new runners to learn about their training paces in a controlled environment. It’s flat and traffic-free, and the distance is measured for you.

The most commonly used calculator is the interval calculator. Time-lapse photographers usually have an idea of how long they want to record for, and how long they would like the final clip to be. All that’s left is to calculate the right interval.
As well as the interval, you can calculate how many minutes (or indeed seconds or hours) that the final video will run for. This is the purpose of the ‘final video length’ calculator.
Similar to the exposure triangle with normal photography (you can also get an exposure triangle calculator), there is also a triangle to consider with time-lapse; Shutter interval, recording time and video length. Adjusting any two of these will affect the other.
