Medical Terminology Course Certificate & CEUs. Successful completion of this course requires students to achieve a score of 70% or higher on all module review exams and on the final exam. Upon passing the Medical Terminology Online Course, students will receive a Medical Terminology Certificate. AAPC certified members will also receive 20 CEUs.
The types of CEUs awarded at AAPC include: Core A focuses on the technical side of professional medicalcoding. Coders may claim all of their CEUs earned from core A. Core B addresses general business skills and professional development related to the healthcare field.

These are self-study courses in which students work at their own pace, from home, to complete each course within a 4-month timeframe or less. For students who prefer to take a classroom based course, many AAPC certified instructors teach AAPC curriculum throughout the US.
The CPC Prep course teaches physician office coding and helps to prepare a student for the CPC certification exam. The COC Prep course teaches coding for an outpatient hospital/facility setting and helps to prepare a student for the COC certification exam.
An instructor at a post secondary school may receive up to 16 CEUs per core credential during a two-year renewal period, for teaching a face-to-face course specific to the credential. This does require prior approval and the application must be submitted under the name of the college not under your member account.

For online self-study courses, the AAPC will perform a word count of your PowerPoint. The PowerPoint should be submitted in a form that a word count can be electronically calculated. If the CEU Analyst is unable to perform a word count, a visual review will be performed and CEUs will be awarded accordingly.
