The BLS training material takes about 2 hours to go through and the BLS certification exam takes about 1 hour to complete. You can re-take the exam if you do not pass the first time. We recommend going through the course material carefully so you pass the exam on the first try.

The amount of continuing education (CE), also referred to as continuing medical education (CME), hours you can redeem upon successfully completing an online BLS course varies from provider to provider.
The online portion of HeartCode BLS can be completed in approximately 1 to 2 hours. Time to complete the hands-on skills session varies from 60 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the experience of the student.
Namely: ACLS certification course is approved for 8 CEU/CME contact hours; ACLS recertification course is approved for 4 CEU/CME contact hours.
BLS cards are valid for two years from the date on your certificate. If your American Red Cross BLS certification is about to expire (or has expired and you're within 30 days of its expiration), you can enroll in an abbreviated BLS course (a review course) and get recertified for two more years.
Basic CPR for healthcare professionals does not count for continuing education credit even if the provider issues certificates.
8 CEUsAnd how many CEUs/CMEs will I earn? Your initial Neonatal Resuscitation certification is valid for 2 years and provides you with 8 CEUs/CMEs. Once your certification expires, you will need to complete a Neonatal Resuscitation recertification, which provides you with 4 CEUs/CMEs, to remain actively certified.
The short answer? No, the class is not generally considered difficult – however, compared to lay rescuer CPR & First Aid classes, there is a greater amount of information covered and the skill requirements are slightly more technical.

The BLS/CPR Course covers conventional CPR techniques, Hands-Only CPR, Basic Life Support (BLS), choking, and AED use. The course covers the techniques for adults, infants, and children. The course is administered online and uses a combination of written text, pictures, and video to illustrate the curriculum. The BLS Instructor course is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider and Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED courses. Instructor candidates learn how to use AHA Instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet learning objectives, offer student coaching skills, provide an objective skills performance evaluation, and follow AHA Instructor and course policies. The course covers core content and discipline-specific content required to teach AHA courses.
Candidates who successfully complete the steps listed below will receive an American Heart Association BLS Instructor certification, valid for two years.
This American Red Cross Instructor course provides instructor candidates with the skills and knowledge to teach the American Red Cross basic-level First Aid, CPR and AED courses.
Duration: Due to class safety (during Covid-19), this class is taught by a Zoom session (web video conference) up to 8.5 hours, followed by an in-class session up to 5 hours.
No Show Policy: If a registered participant is a no-show and absent from their scheduled class, the participant will not receive a refund of any kind and is not eligible for a class transfer.
Cancelled Class Policy: CPR Training Professionals reserves the right to cancel classes as needed . In the event a class is canceled registered participants will be offered a transfer to a different class at no additional charge or a full refund.
Refund Policy: Class fees are nonrefundable and no refunds will be issued once fees have been submitted. Class materials and supplies such as course manuals and textbooks, CPR masks and all other class supplies are nonrefundable.
