The AARP Smart Driver™ online course is six (6) hours in length. You may complete the course all in one sitting or you can choose to complete the course at your own pace, logging on and off at your convenience. The course will automatically keep track of your progress so that when you log back on, your course will resume from where you left off.
This course is typically valid for two to three years. This depends on the state you live and drive in. ** Automobile/Homeowners discount is available only to policyholders who have both their auto and home (or condo or renters) insurance through the AARP Auto & Home Insurance Programs from The Hartford.

AARP members are charged $15 for the course, nonmembers $20. Course times and locations vary. Anchorage Senior Activities Center hosts the course twice each month, once in a noon to 4 p.m. time frame, once in a 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. time frame -- both during two afternoons or two evenings.
This discount is generally applied for three years, after which the driver is allowed to repeat the course for renewed credit.
