How to Become ServSafe Certified. The first step in getting your ServSafe certification is to create an account on the ServSafe website. Once you have a ServSafe login, you can then buy the program or course you want. You have the option to take an online course or to enroll in a class with an instructor.
Length of Exam The ServSafe Food Handler assessment is a 40-question, non-proctored test. It has no time limit, meaning test-takers may complete at their own pace. On average, test-takers work through the exam within 90 minutes.
The ServSafe Manager exam has 90 questions, and you are graded on 80 of them. There are ten pilot questions for research purposes only. You have a limit of two hours to complete the multiple-choice questions, and you must score at least 75% to pass.
You will need to purchase a new exam each time you need to retest. You can take the examination twice within 30 days. If you don't pass the exam on your second attempt, you must wait 60 days from your most recent attempt before taking the exam again. No more than four attempts are allowed within a 12 month period.
75%Certification Process A passing score is 75% or higher. This is obtained by answering at least 60 out of 80 questions correctly. The exam has 90 questions; however there are 10 pilot questions that are for research purposes only.

Q: Are study materials or notes allowed for my exam? A: No. Study materials (ie: books, notes, websites, calculators, etc) are not allowed while taking the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination.

Remove aprons when leaving Park areas. For example, aprons should be removed and stored before taking out garbage or using the restroom. Never wipe your hands on your apron. A food handler will be wearing single-use gloves to chop lettuce for an hour.
After purchasing the course or having it assigned to your ServSafe User ID, you can simply select "Launch" from the "Take My Course" page. If a course key was assigned to you, simply enter that key on the same page in the designated area.
The ServSafe Food Handler program is comprehensive and provides training on the following Intended Learning Outcomes: Basic Food Safety, Personal Hygiene, Cross-Contamination and Allergens, Time & Temperature, & Cleaning and Sanitation. You must complete each of these sections before the assessment is made available

No, this is only a training course. However to finish the course, the learner will need to complete a series of interactive knowledge checks throughout.
Yes, a certificate is available for this course. After completing the course, you can log in to ServSafe.com and select " Download My Certificates ". The certificate can then be downloaded, printed or shared with someone you specify.
Unused courses are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Once a course has been started: ServSafe Food Handler courses must be completed in 60 days. ServSafe Manager and ServSafe Alcohol courses must be completed in 90 days. After a course has expired, a student will not be able to access that course.
To become ServSafe Food Safety certified, you must pass the ServSafe Manager Certification Exam with a score of 75% or higher. For your ServSafe Certification to be recognized by your state or local health department, you must also meet your local regulatory requirements.
To find a course, instructor or proctor in your area, go to ServSafe.com, from the top blue ribbon menu, click on the ServSafe program name for the course you want to take, then select "find a class" or "find instructor/proctor" option. Complete the fields and select the "search" button.
The ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination has conformed to the CFP standards for examination development. The CFP, in conjunction with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), developed a voluntary program and protocol for recognizing food protection manager certification examinations.
The ServSafe Manager Certification verifies that a manager or person-in-charge has sufficient food safety knowledge to protect the public from foodborne illness. Individuals that successfully pass the 90-question, multiple-choice exam will receive a ServSafe Manager Certification and wallet card. The ServSafe Manager Certification is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under the Conference for Food Protection Standards.
