The answer is: They walk it. There is nothing wrong with walking during an Ironman—if you plan to. However, most athletes don't plan to walk but end up doing it anyway.
Unless you're a world class swimmer, you're going to need to train hard to swim 2.4 miles. Not everyone can do that. And the bike is definitely the hardest part.
Anyone can do an IRONMAN if they want to. If you are considering it, then there is no doubt that you can do it too… with a bit of self-belief and hard work, you can achieve anything. However, you need to give yourself the best chances of success.

For the Cairns Airport IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship Cairns and IRONMAN 70.3 Cairns the use of public roads is required. Changed traffic conditions and clearways must be enforced to ensure the safety of participants, supporters and volunteers.
