Poison wears off over time, decreasing by a value of one for every minute that passes (four strikes). Monsters that can inflict poison may do so regardless of whether or not they inflict any damage, even if protection prayers are used.
Poison hits every 10 seconds and wears off after 3 minutes. Weapon poison, when applied, appears as a buff, and the duration for which weapons will be poisonous depends on the strength of poison used. Weapon poison: Lasts 2 minutes 30 seconds, dealing between 7-24% of the player's ability damage per hit (tier 1).
Once applied, the poison retains potency for 1 minute before drying.

Weapon poison(++), also known as super weapon poison, is made by mixing cave nightshade and poison ivy berries in a vial of coconut milk, giving 190 Herblore experience. It requires level 82 Herblore. Applying a Weapon poison(++) to certain weapons will give you a chance to poison your opponent in combat.
Poison wears off over time, decreasing by a value of one after every 5 hits. Poison doesn't do damage (or wear off) when a player has an interface open. It will hit once immediately after the interface is closed, and continue damaging the player every 18 seconds after that (30 game ticks).
As for whether it lasts forever, it won't wash off in rain or water or anything like that but it does have a limited number of uses before the effect wears off on the weapon or arrow. For arrows it's pretty much a one time use though, but you do make multiple poison arrows each time you craft it.Jan 5, 2020

The player will slowly lose health when poisoned, and if untreated, will die in a few days.
All of these creatures are poisonous in Stranded Deep. Save often so that you have the choice to reload if you are poisoned. Saving is important in any survival game, but if you are poisoned early on in Stranded Deep, you won't be able to recover.May 6, 2021
