The ServSafe Food Manager Certification is a nationally accredited program accepted by health departments nationwide. Premier Food Safety has partnered with ServSafe to offer you the Food Manager Certification Exam, as well as multiple training packages to meet your training needs.
Certification requires the passage of an approved exam such as ServSafe, or Prometric. Certification is usually valid for 3 years (this may vary depending on the county). Some counties require submission of an application and payment of an additional fee for the issuance of a local permit.
Before the exam can begin, the proctor will ask you to move your webcam or laptop around to verify that the environment meets all exam security protocols. The proctor will also request access to your computer to close and disable any programs, files, or apps not related to the examination process.
If you are not engaging in dishonest behavior, it is highly unlikely that the proctor will flag or end your exam session. If the session is flagged, it will be reviewed by ProctorU and ServSafe’s compliance team, who will determine if an investigation should be opened.
A driver license issued by a state that verifies lawful presence in the United States (This does not currently include Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Washington. The enhanced driver license from Washington is acceptable.)
Upon completion of the online training course, you will be able to download and print a Certificate of Completion of Training. This certificate is not the ServSafe Certificate, which can only be obtain upon passing the certification exam.

How long is the ServSafe Handlers certificate good for? The ServSafe Food Handlers Certification is valid for a period of 3 (three) years. After 3 years you will need to pass another exam, also called a food handlers assessment.
So how long is your ServSafe certificate good for? The short answer is that you could remain certified for up to 10 years without needing to take another exam. Or you may need to retake the exam every 3 years in order to stay certified.
Although your ServSafe food handler certificate expires after 3 years, your local “food handlers card” may expire sooner or later than ServSafe. You may or may not need to keep your ServSafe certificate current in order to stay compliant with your local regulations, but usually, you do not.
You will need to retake the exam (also called an assessment) before it expires in order to maintain your certification status with ServSafe. You do NOT need to complete another training course but the assessment is not available for purchase individually and must be purchased along with the course.
