how long does firearm safety course certificate last in nc

by Simone Ritchie MD 7 min read

This means it is up to the discretion of your sheriff so the time frame in which it will be honored can vary greatly. With this in mind we tell all of our students to take it to their sheriff AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Once issued, the permit is valid throughout the state of North Carolina for a period of 5 years, unless it is revoked.

I took mine in after 5 1/2 years in Guilford County, and it was no problem. They said it doesn't expire. Not sure about other counties.

HTP Guest

It is at the discretion of the Sheriff. Some won't taken a CCH certificate over a year old and others don't care one way or another. The law doesn't speak to any expiration, only that you took the class and have the original certificate.
