The level 2 advanced VIPKID trial class is direct ed towards students that have had a bit more exposure to the English language. They are still beginners but the majority of the students will know simple vocabulary words.
A trial class is a lesson with a student that is not currently signed up for VIPKID. In order to market their services to potential customers, VIPKID offers every Chinese student three free trial lessons to see if they like the platform. VIPKID has developed specific lessons that cater to trial students.
The level 1 trial lesson is targeted toward students that have little to no experience with English. These are your PreVIP students and will range in age from 3 to 6 years old.
Unlike major course classes, teachers are only paid half of their base pay for trial student no shows. This pay cut can ultimately hurt your monthly paycheck.
The level 3 interactive trial class is one where the student can interact with the slides. Throughout this lesson, your students will be learning about different kinds of food. They will be able to grab and drop different objects on the screen while talking about them.

Yes, don’t be afraid to switch up or down (if possible) during a trial. Along with trying to sell the program to the parents and student, you are also trying to determine where the student should start if they sign up. It’s really important to try to find a level which seems appropriate. Really the only way to accurately place a student is to try different levels. If the lesson seems too hard, move down one or two levels. It if is too easy, move up. Ultimately, though, the child’s placement is up to the parents. I tend to error on placing the student a little lower rather than higher. It is way easier to move a student up than down.
Another way to improve your chances of getting VIPKID trial class bookings is to open classes short notice. Short notice classes can be booked up to one hour in advance and in my experience, these slots are more popular with trial students.
The VIPKID trial class rebooking feature is a way to teach more full classes and avoid trial student no shows. Normally, a trial class can be booked or changed before the class start time. After the class start time, if a student is a no show, the teacher must wait 15 minutes in the classroom and will only receive 50% pay.
It’s a great idea to use props in your VIPKID Trial classes! Props can make it easier for your student to understand what you’re saying and they make the class more interesting.
In the advanced level 2 trial class, students learn about animals in the jungle, including a [monkey], [tiger], [snake], and [parrot]. Students also learn how to say what they see and identify the letters [Mm], [Tt], [Pp], and [Ss].
Don’t be afraid to change the level of the PPT. You can even change it multiple times if needed. You always want the student to leave class feeling confident in their abilities, so if they seem to be struggling go ahead and bump it down.
