Rosetta Stone does help with the reading and writing a foreign language, but I prefer Pimsleur. Unfortunately there's no Pimsleur welsh.
Welsh is a very easy language to learn. Not only is it much easier than Irish, it is indeed one of the easiest Indo-European languages.
It is one of the oldest — and trickiest — languages in Europe but now a study appears to have found why Welsh can prove so hard to master. The researchers believe that the smaller the community, the more complicated the language.
In my opinion, Welsh is much easier for an English speaker than German, and maybe only slightly more difficult than Spanish or French. One issue, though, is the formal language versus the spoken, the latter of which has several dialects. If you live in Wales, I would recommend learning the dialect of your area.
The two basic courses are usually called Mynediad (entry-level) and Sylfaen (basic level).
