Entry Requirements – SAS Eligibility Criteria The age limit is up to 42 years for staying in the unit, but training and acceptance has to occur at 32 years or 34 years depending on military service. Besides age there are other requirements to fulfil.
Applicants. 21 & 23 SAS processes applications from male and female applicants, with no previous military service. Applicants must be no older than 42 years 6 months when applying to join the Army Reserves (AR).

SAS training has the notorious Borneo jungle phase, which combines the above mentioned long range rucking, with the added discomfort of the sweltering humid heat of triple canopy jungle, swamps, insects, and poisonous reptiles, and all in a minimalist, survival training type environment, ie; hardly any food, water, or sleep.
SEAL selection is on the whole more ‘brutal’ and physically demanding. They essentially push you to find out who they can get to quit. SAS selection is extremely physically demanding, but a lot more evaluation is done of the recruit’s mental and emotional aptitude for service on a team.
But is SAS training “harder” than SEAL training. On whole, probably not. There’s a difference between training being more difficult and the unit being more selective. In that regard, Delta Force is also ‘more selective’. But I wouldn’t say the level of training is likewise and harder or more difficult.
Just by the numbers ST6 is 10 times more selective than the SAS. less than 1 person in over a million and a half is in SEAL team 6. All of them have been in combat. As compared to active duty devgru, there are significantly more professional football players walking around, it’s probably about the same as NBA players.
