Since 2015 only 319 out of over 2200 players have felt bold enough to take on the long second shot, and only 60 have gotten home—about 12 per tournament. That makes this an unsatisfactory scoring hole for the pros and one of the tour's rare par 5s that usually plays close to par, with a 4.93 stroke average since 2015.

TPC San AntonioValero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio The Oaks course will host the 100th Anniversary of the PGA TOUR's Valero Texas Open from March 28th – April 3rd, 2022. The 2022 edition of the Valero Texas Open, will return to TPC San Antonio's Oaks course for the 13th year.
Only 100 feet of fall from the high point of the course to the lowest. Bunkering will reflect a natural, rugged “minimalist” with edges emulating the canopy of the native oak trees. Native grasses and plant are prevalent throughout the course. Par-72, 7,435-yard course, with forced carries on only two holes.
The Oaks course, designed by PGA TOUR legend, Greg Norman, with player consultant, Sergio Garcia, reflects the TOUR’s departure from the modern tournament style course (expansive grass areas and spectator mounding) to a more natural look and feel, without sacrificing the fan experience, making it very tournament friendly.
The 11th is a fine hole with the split fairway protected by a single center-placed bunker. The 12th and 13th are fairly perfunctory holes but the par-5 14th is a solid hole -- narrowing the landing area for the bold 2nd shots with flanking bunkers squeezing the landing area.
