From hiking and biking to swimming and boating, Bear Creek Lake Park offers something for everyone.
The park office is open daily 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday through Thursday. The office is open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday. The office may be closed when staff are not available. Boat rentals are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.Feb 1, 2022
Biking/Hiking: Horseback riding, biking, and hiking are popular on the park's trails. There are 15 miles of multi-use dirt trails located within the park. Pets are welcome on-leash everywhere except the Swim Beach.
Bear Creek Lake, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is less than 1 mile long and has an average depth of 48 feet. The lake drains an area of approximately 236 square miles. The multi-purpose pool measures 110-surface-acres and has a storage capacity of 2,000 acre-feet.
The species composition consists of largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, black crappie, and channel catfish. There is also a handicapped-accessible pier available at Bear Creek Lake. The lake is open to fishing from sunrise to sunset.

Most areas west of Bear Lake Road remain closed including the Moraine Park Road at the junction of Bear Lake Road and the Moraine Park Campground. Trails that remain closed include the Fern Lake Trail, Cub Lake Trail, the Mill Creek Basin, Hollowell Park, and Bierstadt Trail.Nov 19, 2020
Looky looky! Even though it's a chilly day, the reservoir is officially ice free! That means it's boating season.
Seasonality – For the most part, Bear Lake Road remains open all year round. With that said, the route is often closed during winter storms for snow plows to clear the road. As Trail Ridge Road is closed seasonally, Bear Lake Road is the most popular destination for winter visitors from Estes Park.
