An incident report form must be completed for any incident where safety was compromised, whether injury occurred or not. These forms must be given to the ropes course director. If an injury or incident occurs, facilitator must keep their own log of events and a list of all their actions.
Sylvia Shirley. The ropes course is a very safe place when all safety procedures are followed, but there is the possibility of serious injury if they are not. For this reason the facilitator has the final say on safety. The foremost responsibility of the facilitator is safety.
Keeping a good grip of both the club and the ground is one of the main challenges of playing golf in the rain. Wet golf gloves and wet hands make it very difficult to hold onto the club during the swing no matter how good your club’s grips are.
Water getting trapped between the club face and the golf ball at impact also affects distance. 3. Control. Rain not only reduces the distance the golf ball travels but also affects its trajectory. Club grooves and dimples on the golf ball filled with water make getting clean contact with the ball much harder.
When it rains humidity in the air is increased because of the evaporation. Humidity creates thicker air which leads to increased resistance to the golf ball in flight and therefore a ball which does not travel as far.
Gloves – The key reason for wearing a golf glove is grip but when they get wet their effect is minimised almost to nothing. Consider speciality rain gloves to help maintain your grip and carry spares (ideally inside a carrier or zip lock bag) in case your first one gets wet.
Hand warmers – Some golfers also carry hand warmers in their waterproof trousers or rain pants. Playing golf in the rain can lead to cold hands which makes it uncomfortable to difficult to grip the club so some golfers use this trick to keep their hands warm in between shots.
Playing golf in wet conditions is undoubtedly more challenging than playing in the dry. But that does not mean there’s nothing you can do to try and make your life a bit easier when playing in the rain.
But with some good preparation there is a lot you can do to ensure you can still play well and enjoy yourself in wet conditions. And if there are some prizes to the played for chances are you will have a better chance of winning them as many of your competitors will either be unprepared or just give up due to the rain.
“The upper body benefits the most from the physical challenges of the course because the muscles in the hands, forearms and upper arms are engaged substantially,” says Gordon. Though, it is important to note that the challenge course is an excellent option for all fitness levels. You do not have to be in peak physical condition or an avid climber to enjoy the ropes course.
“Balance exercises are also extremely important for enhancing and strengthening the muscles in the lower leg, which contribute to the movement and support of the ankle,” says Gordon. You will get a full-body workout without even realizing your working out.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that adults perform at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of intense activity every week. The ropes course can be a fun and engaging way to meet these exercise milestones without setting foot in a boring gym.
“From a physical standpoint it’s incredible exercise, but some of the best tidings I get from climbing are what I would define as spiritual, ” says Cedar Wright, team climber with The North Face. “From a mental standpoint, climbing is an amazing teacher, instilling focus, balance, determination and a whole … host of valuable life skills.”
No one said exercise had to be boring. “One of the main problems is that people associate exercise with a gym or equipment,” says Dr. Marc Tinsley. “I tell people to think ‘outside the barbell.’” Fitness is about “having enough energy to do your activities of daily living safely and effectively.” The challenge course, also commonly referred to as a ropes course, is a great way to exercise without even realizing you’re exercising.
Challenge course high elements are challenges experienced by individuals, partners, and groups at a height of ten to forty feet above ground level. Heights above forty feet may be obtained if trees, structures, and taller poles are available.
