What if I am on Suspension for Exceeding Maximum Hours/Time-Frame? If you have exceeded the maximum allowable time to complete your degree program, you are no longer eligible to receive financial aid.
Withdrawing from a class could affect your financial aid if it means you are no longer making “satisfactory academic progress.” Each college defines satisfactory academic progress differently, but wherever you go to school, you must maintain it to keep receiving financial aid.
You are in good shape and in good standing. Keep up the good work! To remain in good standing you must maintain a minimum cumulative completion rate of two-thirds of credits attempted (67%) as measured by comparing the total completed credits to the total attempted credits.
Students may enroll for no more than seven credits during each of the two summer sessions, unless permitted to take an increased load by their assigned academic advisor.
Is it better to withdraw from a class or fail the class in college? According to Croskey, it is usually better to withdraw from a class. Exceptions may result for students with many withdrawals already if they can create a productive plan to retake the course after failing.
Failing a class does not force you to pay back your FAFSA financial aid. However, it could put you at risk for losing eligibility to renew it next semester. If you do not make Satisfactory Academic Progress, or SAP, your federal financial aid is at risk of being suspended.

Incarceration, misdemeanors, arrests, and more serious crimes can all affect a student's aid. Smaller offenses won't necessarily cut off a student from all aid, but it will limit the programs they qualify for as well as the amount of aid they could receive. Larger offenses can disqualify a student entirely.
Note that the one-semester SAP warning period is only available one time throughout your undergraduate degree program. There are no Financial Aid SAP warning periods for graduate/professional students who are evaluated annually.

Health Insurance. UNC Greensboro does not require health insurance for students who take courses fully online. Because online students are not assessed the same fees as those taking courses on campus, they are not eligible to participate in the Student Health Insurance Plan.
If you encounter unexpected and extenuating circumstances that occur after the schedule adjustment period or after you have already withdrawn from the maximum 16 semester hours allotted in your undergraduate degree, you may want to consider submitting a Course Withdrawal Request through the Students First Office.
