Change course with the arrow keys or the cursor, or use prominent navigation buttons found on your smartphone’s Zwift Companion App. Join a peloton headed toward the volcano, up Alpe du Zwift, or into Titans Grove. Or let it go, don’t initiate any turn at all, and stay on your pre-selected route.
Zwifters are placed on the same course each day according to the monthly course schedule set by Zwift HQ. Eventually riders may be able to choose in-game which course they ride on, but until then here’s an easy hack that lets you ride any course at any time.
On these rides, the group is tethered together, so as long as you keep riding, you won’t get dropped. To do a workout on Zwift, log in, then click on ‘Training’ underneath the ‘World Choice’ section in the middle of the window. This will open up a new window, where you’ll see two tabs.

Consistency is key – this is where Zwift training plans come in. Training plans set out a long-term structure (usually 6-12 weeks) of fatigue balanced with rest, filled in with detailed workouts almost every day of the week. Plans range from basic fitness builders to highly-structured race preparation plans.
When you stop riding or running, select “End Ride” or “End Run,” and either save or discard your activity. This will take you back to the home screen. There, you can choose a different route or a whole new world.
There is no option to do multiple routes during one ride, and have Zwift recognise the second route as an official 'Zwift route'.

I am super proud to announce the latest feature for ZwiftMap: Custom Routes. You can now plan your next ride outside of Zwift from your browser. Just visit https://zwiftmap.com/watopia/custom-route to get started - it even works on your phone.
By far the longest and toughest climb in Zwift. The Alpe du Zwift mirrors the world-famous 21 switchbacks of the Alpe d'Huez. Climbing at a sustained 8% gradient, the Alpe du Zwift is a grueling test of stamina and strength, not to mention mental strength.
While the geography of Watopia is loosely based on a pair of islands in the Pacific Ocean, many features of the location are largely fictionalized, making it the only Zwift course not modelled after a real-world location. The location includes 53 individual and event only routes and over 160km of road.

If you haven't yet completed any climbs in Zwift, you will need to ride a few before you unlock the Road to Sky, which is the route the Alpe resides on. You will have to be at least level 6 to access this, so if you're new to Zwift you will have to accrue some miles before seeking out this challenge.
It's actually quite easy. 1. You will need a Zwift account and a GPX of the route in question. If you have recorded last years time on your GPS watch, you should be able to download the accompanying GPX file from Garmin/Strava/Training Peaks etc… or wherever you uploaded the data too.
Jesper Nielson has created several scripts for Zwift users, and the one I use most often is zwift-preferences. This script lets you set a trainer difficulty effect, choose which world and course to ride, toggle Neo road feel, and set a variety of other preferences.
If you’re on a Mac and can’t use zwift-preferences or if you would rather edit a text file than use an app, you can easily set your course with a little editing of your Zwift prefs.xml file.
Volcano Circuit is a new 2.8mi/4.2km lap around, and inside of, the new Watopia volcano. This one has a built-in lap counter to count the laps as you complete them. In an organized lap-based event that uses this course the lap counter will count down to the finish.
Prefer Flat Roads strives to keep you as flat as possible, with very little climbing around Richmond. This is a modifier version of the 2015 UCI World's course that avoids the Libby Hill and 23rd Street climbs for a relatively easy, flat ride.
London Loop is a 9.2 mile loop that takes you through the city of London before dipping under the Thames River to head out to Surrey Hills for some fresh air and steeper climbing. It bypasses the Classique course entirely.
Method 1: Choose from Route List. Zwifters can manually select a route it from a list of available options within a given map. This is done before you begin your activity: Choose your map/world. Select your route!

The only caveat here is that you must invite at least one follower to your Meetup before the event can be created. So if you’re only creating the Meetup because you’re you’re wanting to ride a particular route, you’ll still need to invite a friend to join you.
ZwiftPower also allows you to filter events by route. if you don’t actually want to participate in the group ride, but just ride the route, you can click to exit the event at any time after it has started. This will keep you on the same route, but remove you from the group ride.
Zwifters have been using this option for years, and even though Zwift has made it easier than ever whichever route we’d like for a given sessions, sometimes world hacking is the easiest way to get it done. This solution is quite easy on Mac and PC, but more of a hassle on Android and iOS.
A pre-planned route is the way to go. Launch Zwift, pair your devices and choose any route in the drop-in screen. Each route indicates distance, elevation and location. Once you begin your ride, Zwift takes control and keeps you on course. Do as many loops as you’d like.
Using ZML, press the U-turn button. You will slow down to 15mph (~21kph) to make the turn. You cannot make a U-turn under 3mph (~5 kph), and a U-turn may be delayed if riders are trying to pass you. You can also hit the down arrow on your keyboard to initiate the U-turn.
