The NAUI Divemaster rating is the highest NAUI leadership-level certification with the exception of Instructor. The program is designed to train experienced and knowledgeable divers to organize and conduct enjoyable open water dives for certified divers.

Many Divemasters are employed full-time or work independently supervising certified divers during club, store, resort or charter tour and travel activities. As a NAUI Divemaster you enjoy again and again adventures to which you introduce your clients. NAUI Divemaster certification is another option leading to NAUI Instructor qualification.
There are no stipulations or caveats with NAUI certifications. Your training will provide you with the confidence, skills, knowledge and ability to independently dive with your dive buddy anywhere in the world.
Prerequisites for Entering the Course Current certification in NAUI First Aid for the Diving Professional or equivalent. A minimum of 50 logged open water scuba dives with a minimum of 25 hours bottom time. Dives shall be varied in environment, depth, and activities.
C-cards from PADI and NAUI do not expire. However, proof that you dived recently is frequently requested by dive centers. It is recommended that if you have not dived recently and are trying to start again, you should take a refresher course with a training agency.
Our NAUI Open Water Diver course takes 4 days total and consists of three main phases: Knowledge Development to understand basic principles of scuba diving. Two Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills in the pool! Four Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore the ocean!
The main difference between a NAUI Divemaster and a PADI Divemaster course is the pre-requesite as a diver. NAUI requires a minimum of 50 logged open water scuba dives with a minimum of 25 hours bottom time. PADI only requires a minimum of 40 logged open water scuba dives to begin the Divemaster course.
You must have at least 40 dives to begin the Divemaster course, and reach 60 to achieve the certification. The number of dives needed to complete the course means it can take anywhere between six weeks and six months to attain the certification.
The answer is of course yes, you can get a new PADI card and the training that you have already done (even if with a different training agency such as BSAC, CMAS, SSI or NAUI) will not have been wasted and it is rare that we need to start from complete scratch again.
