You can Unpublish the course by going to the Home page and clicking Unpublish. This will remove the Dashboard Card link from all student accounts. How do I publish a course? If you have permission to publish your course, you can publish your course from the Dashboard, the Course Home Page sidebar, the Course Settings sidebar, or the Course Setup Checklist. You must publish a course before students can access it and its contents.
By default all Canvas courses will be in unpublished state. A Canvas course will not be available to students until the course start date passes (see Canvas Course Overview) and the course is published.
If you need to unpublish your course, click the Unpublish button in the sidebar. Students who already received course invitations will not be able to access your course. Once your course contains a graded submission, the course status will no longer display in the sidebar and you will no longer be able to unpublish your course.
To publish a Canvas course site, click on Home in the course navigation menu.Under Course Status, click Publish. When you publish the couse site, you will need to select a Home Page for the course.Select a Home Page, then click Choose and Publish.
The Canvas course site is not yet published by the instructor. A course site isn't visible to students until the instructor manually publishes the Canvas site. If the semester/term has already started and you are definitely registered for the course, contact your instructor and ask them to publish the course.

Publish in Dashboard Login to Canvas and click Dashboard (A) in the global navigation on the left. Scroll down to locate the Unpublished Drafts (B) section in the Dashboard. Find the course you want to publish and click the Publish (C) button.
Unlock a course To unlock a Canvas course after the term has ended: Navigate to the course you want to unlock, and from the course navigation menu, select Settings. After the page automatically refreshes, your course will be unlocked, and the course end date will be set to one month from the current date.

If course start date passes and your course is still not published, students will not be able to access your course content. Please note the the default course home option is modules. If you leave the course home at the default, you must have published module with content before you can publish the course. You can change the home default to another option if desired. When you first view a Canvas course the course status will appear in upper right column. On the course home click the Publish button.
In a Canvas course, the following content items will have Publish options. Students cannot see unpublished content in a published course (See Understanding Draft State ).
