No, first-year students are not required to live on campus. Most first-year students do live on campus because of the ease of transition from home to campus life, access to university resources and the ability to make lifelong friends.
Moving to a new campus or new position can be intimidating, and the size and complexity of an organization like UCF can make this transition particularly challenging.
In 2017, “UCF Regional Campuses” became “UCF Connect” to reflect more accurately the mix of value-added services it provides to students, faculty, and staff; colleges; and our communities.
UCF functions like any community of like size, and all the people who study, work, and live here deserve a safe and secure environment. In some cases, the university also provides shelter, resources, and assistance to the surrounding community.
The University of Central Florida considers the diversity of its students, faculty, and staff to be a strength and critical to its educational mission. UCF expects every member of the university community to contribute to an inclusive and respectful culture for all in its classrooms, work environments, and at campus events.
