You can find your course status on the home page, or in the settings tab. Canvas Rosters vs BANNER Rosters: Make sure to check your Canvas roster and compare it to your Banner roster. BANNER is the roster that will always be the most accurate. Canvas rosters are a little more disorganized. I apologize in advance.

- Sandbox: A Canvas sandbox is basically a course shell that students do not have access to. Sandboxes are used to build content in a space that can be reset, changed, and without the worry of students seeing any in-progress content. Sandboxes will not be deleted unless requested by the instructor.
A sandbox course is a private space where you can test items without impacting your live course(s). In your Sandbox Course, you will have the instructor role that allows you to utilize and practice with all tools available in a regular Canvas course.
For example, for a grade scheme where a “D-” begins at 60% (meaning anything below that is an “F”), then if you enter an “F” for a student's score, Canvas will convert that to a 59%. If you wish to give a student a different score (such as 0%), you can simply enter the score instead of the letter grade.
Click on the "Course Details" tab across the top. Editing "Name" will edit the long name of the course. Editing the "Course Code" will edit the short name of the course that appears across to top of the course site. Click "Update Course Details" at the bottom to save the changes.
Unlock a course To unlock a Canvas course after the term has ended: Navigate to the course you want to unlock, and from the course navigation menu, select Settings. After the page automatically refreshes, your course will be unlocked, and the course end date will be set to one month from the current date.
A page shell is an content page, basically serving as a placeholder for content at a later point. These lesson from the Canvas Instructor Guide explains how to create a page.
The course shell is a starter structure for your course. This shell is based on a set of online course design guidelines from UVM's Continuing and Distance Education and the Center For Teaching and Learning. Click on the Canvas icon. Open the course that you want to move the materials into by clicking on the title. Click on Settings in the course side menu. Click on “Import Content into this Course”.
